THE BEATLES - Please Please Me UK STEREO LP Parlophone PCS 3042 1963 Matrix Nos: YEX 94-1 1 GM, YEX 95-1 1 L. Tax Codes: ZMT
I have been told this LP is quite rare. I still have a mono version and they do sound different especially on headphones, where you can appreciate the echo used on some tracks, used to great effect.
On side 2 label there are 3 Tax Code embossed letters for 1963. To the left of the spindle hole there is a Z, to the right there is a T and above the hole there is an M (see picture). On the matrix numbers on side 1, the GM is on the right of the run-out and the 1 is on the left. On side two there is an L on the right side and a 1 on the left side of the run-out.
The thick cover is in very good condition with a laminated front. It has a 5mm split at the bottom front corner and the other corner has rubbed and rounded slightly. Nice clean spine except for the bottom corner already mentioned. Also at the top there is a faint water stain to the left of 'stereo'. The vinyl is in great shape, but does have slight surface noise which can be heard on the lead-ins, run-outs and between tracks. At the very end of 'A Taste of Honey', there are 3 repetitive light clicks, which might constitute a scratch*, but I never noticed it before. On first inspection the vinyl looks great, but when viewed under a bright light and reading glasses there are numerous faint lines. These don't affect play at all. I play my records with a cartridge weight of 1.5 grams and there are no scratches (apart from the previous mention*), jumps, sticks or warps. I think you would be lucky to find one in as good condition. It also has the original inner sleeve.
I shall be pleased to answer any questions you may have.
