Description
I am selling my copy of this rare 1st press album, which I bought in 1966.
The matrix numbers are XEX 605-2 and XEX 606-1 and the stamper numbers are 5 AD and 3 AD.
It is on the yellow and black Parlophone label and the catalogue number is PMC7009.
Both labels show "Sold in UK" and "The Gramophone Co. Ltd".
The Side 1 spindle area carries the KT tax code.
The Side 2 label and the sleeve both carry the Track 4 title - Dr. Robert.
This pressing has the Remix 11 version of "Tomorrow Never Knows" and, as Beatles aficionados will know, production of this pressing was halted after only a few hours, and an alternative mix added to subsequent pressings (supposedly at the behest of John).
The record is in the front laminated Garrod and Lofthouse sleeve, and as a bonus the vinyl is housed in the Fool inner sleeve of red, pink and white which was originally issued for the Sergeant Pepper album.
Condition :
- Vinyl There are a few hairline scratches but it plays very well with no jumps and a very few crackles.
- Sleeve The edges are slightly yellowed with age and each of the opening edges has a small (0.5 cm) tear. There are two small "bends" in George's hair. The laminate is still bright and shiny and the title on the spine is dark and clear. The reverse still bears the label of the London chain of Harlequin Record Shops from where I bought the album.
- Inner Sleeve I do not know what I did with the original white sleeve but the record is now housed in the Fool inner of red, pink and white which was originally issued for the Sergeant Pepper album. This is very strange because I did not own a copy of Sergeant Pepper - however, I have been advised by an "expert" that this inner is, in its own right, quite a find!
