      Revolver, as released by Capitol in the US, marks a change in the record company's policies. It came out on August 8, 1966, just three days after the UK release. As three songs on the record had already been taken to the American public as part of the previous record, Yesterday and Today, Capitol once more tinkered with the arrangement of tracks as published in the UK. They took out I'm Only Sleeping, And Your Bird Can Sing and Doctor Robert. Thus, the US album had 11 tracks instead of 14, and lasted only 28 minutes and 20 seconds. This would be the last time, however. It took them 10 albums to realize that neither the public nor the Beatles themselves wanted different records in the US from those sold in England on Parlophone. The US version of Revolver was quite successful commercially, selling to 5x platinum in the US and 2x platinum in Canada, topping the charts in both countries. When the CD version of Revolver was published in 1987, the UK track listing was restored.

If you are a European, be forewarned: this is a VERY different version of the album from the one you are used to hearing: American mixes of the Beatles albums are generally different  (this one is no exception). In addition, Capitol records issued Beatles albums with a different track listing and sequencing and - again - this one is no exception.

For its extraordinary contribution to the modern music, superb production, craftsmanship, fine musicianship, revolutionary significance and influence it exerted on numerous generations of musicians, writers and general public, or for some other innate quality, this album was voted one of top-200 albums of all time in one of the largest poll of critics, music reviewers, professionals and producers ever organized: the poll, which was conducted by Paul Gambaccini, legendary BBC Radio A&R man, surveyed more than 50 top music professionals (including Roy Carr, Jonathan Cott, Robert Christgau, Cameron Crowe, Chet Flippo, Ben Fong-Torres, Charlie Gillett, Greil Marcus, Murray the K., Lenny Kaye , Bruce Morrow (a/k/a "Cousin Brucie"), Tim Rice (of "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Evita" fame), Lisa Robinson, Robert Shelton (who wrote liner notes for Bob Dylan's first album), Ed Ward, Joel Whitburn, Pete Wingfield, etc.). (a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VG++. A few light abrasions  ARE VISIBLE, but they appear fairly  insignificant relative to the overall condition of the vinyl, and are only moderately visually distracting. For most part, the vinyl looks impeccable, without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.  [NOTE: a visible and feelable scratch noted on 'Here, There and Anywhere, may cause some clocks and pops]

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

COVER IS NEAR MINT,  STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL ►SHRINK WRAP

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has some faint writing on its back side (a filing code written near the spine in blue ballpoint pen, about 1/4 x 2 inches in size)

-         The cover has a few yellowish dust speckles scattered here and there (these tiny spots are not overly obtrusive or distracting and can probably be cleaned up easily once the shrink wrap has been removed)

-         Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No wrinkles or creases

-        No stamps

-        No tearing: no chips, dents or nicks on the seams

-        No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or  cuts.

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No glue traces or wax residue.

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
