SOUND GRADING

Carefully play tested on my Pioneer turntable, with a Shure cartridge at a moderate volume.

SUMMARY

Overall the record plays in VG+ to EX- condition with ease. You have to listen carefully to notice clicks. Spindle marks indicate the record was played through the years. Clean labels, no stickers, pencil etc. There are a few ticks/clicks throughout which have to be listened closely to to be heard. There are absolutely NO SKIPS OR JUMPS.

SIDE ONE:

A1: TAXMAN

Dead-wax into the ‘1…2…3…4’ count in has some fuzz but once the track starts this disappears.

A2: ELEANOR RIGBY

Slight static during the louder parts of this song: ‘where DO they all belong…’

A3: I’M ONLY SLEEPING

Sounds very nice, minor static only.

A4: LOVE YOU TO

When listening carefully a minor static can be heard during the sitar intro. In the line: ’Means so much to me…’ a pop can be heard. It appears again in the outro. Only once each time.

A5: HERE, THERE AND EVERYWHERE

A slight static can be heard throughout this track, possibly due to a conglomerate of hairline scratches.

A6: YELLOW SUBMARINE

Thankfully, this musical masterpiece plays without flaw and even minor noise. Sarcasm can be detected when listened to carefully.

A7: SHE SAID, SHE SAID

The loud nature of this track means that sometimes John’s vocals begin to fuzz slightly.

SIDE TWO:

B1: GOOD DAY SUNSHINE

A few minor pops can be heard as the track fades in from the dead wax.

B2: AND YOUR BIRD CAN SING

The dead wax in-between B1 and B2 has a static. This disappears as the song begins.

B3: FOR NO ONE

Gorgeous; one of my favourite McCartney songs sounding as resounding as it did when it was penned in 1966. The end fades out with minor static after the song has finished.

B4: DR. ROBERT

Minor pop as the track fades.

B5: I WANT TO TELL YOU

Static as the into fades in. Once the music starts this disappears.

B6: GOT TO GET YOU INTO MY LIFE

Near the end of this track a static appears during the louder parts, particularly during George’s high pitched guitar parts and the brass outro.

B7: TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS

Amazing. It’s great to hear a track in a way not many have heart it before.

The dead wax in between all the tracks on both sides seems to be prone to static, this may or not be surface noise/dust left over time that has not been picked up by my light cleaning.

OVERALL GRADING: VG+/EXCELLENT-

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality; despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items; without any major defects is acceptable.
