The Beatles : Rubber Soul 1965 (2nd Mono Pressing)

I recently purchased a Beatles collection and the majority of them are Mono first pressings.  They have been incredibly well looked after by the one previous owner and she stored them all upright in plastic sleeves since the 60s.  They have only been lightly played and the covers are in wonderful condition.  Any minor wear will be fully described.  There will be no 'buy it now' price as I prefer to let the auctions run.

I believe this version is a 2nd Mono pressing.

  Mono 4/4 Second pressing on Yellow/Black Parlophone label.  'The Gramophone Co. Ltd' etc is printed around the perimeter edge of the labels.

'Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions' printed below the Parlophone labels.  This also has the K T tax stamp on either side of the spindle hole on Side One.

Visual grading

This vinyl has been so well cared for by the previous owner.  It is near pristine condition and after all these years still has fantastic glossy sheen.  It has a handful of inconsequential hairlines and a collection of tiny ones on Side Two but they have no impact on the amazing audio as described below.  This is without doubt a visually stunning record and there can't be many around around that look as good as this one.  Yes there is some spindle wear but it's very rare to find a record from the 60s that has been as well looked after as this one.

Play grading  

There is absolutely no lead in static prior to 'Drive My Car'.  This classic song then proceeds to play with immaculate audio and no interference whatsoever.  In fact the audio across the side is stunning and I have never heard better.  There is no crackle/clicks etc anywhere, the sound quality is of the highest calibre possible and it is no exaggeration to grade it as Near Mint.  'The Word' has some mild distortion but again may disappear when played through a mono system.  You will often hear faint dust ticks on any vinyl but I struggled to even hear any on this side except for a few on 'Michelle' but believe me it is not intrusive in any shape or form.

Side Two again does not disappoint.  The quality throughout is astounding and the clarity and richness of the sound is just breathtaking.  The only interference I heard was two faint clicks during 'In My Life'.  A little distortion perhaps on the top end but quite honestly you will be hard pressed to find such an early pressing sounding as good as this.  This is a genuine final upgrade archive copy.  A real gem.

Cover

The G & L flipback cover is in lovely condition except for one minor tear on the back cover by the opening edge and an even smaller one towards the top.  It is supremely clean and the edges and spine remain in great condition with no shelf wear.  The corners have very minor rubbing and the laminated front cover only has a handful of small creases.  No splitting or lifting anywhere.  Apart from the small tear the back cover is in fantastic condition and again is just so clean.  So often you find the flipbacks are stained but not here!  They look practically as new, wow!  There is no writing or marks anywhere.  Bar the tear and a little handling wear on the opening edge this cover would easily grade as Ex+.

Inner sleeve

I am not sure if this if this is the original inner but it remains in excellent condition with only light creasing.  It is polylined also.

Labels

The yellow/black Parlophone labels are in excellent condition with only some spindle wear, no marks or writing at all.
