THE BEATLES
RUBBER SOUL
1965 1ST MONO
CAT. NO. PMC 1267
-1/ -1 MATRICES
An incredibly rare original copy being pressed in December 1965 and quickly withdrawn due to the imbalance in the Bass.
Sleeve: Good Plus condition. Has retained its original glossy finish, bright coloration and contrast... Corners and edges have a a few spots of shelf-wear and spine is structurally sound. No tears, rips, or repairs, and no ring-wear, but discolouration on the rear panel and pen marks. There is a rippling effect to the opening side extreme edges laminate and a few creases emanating from bottom edge. Lies completely flat and the fold-over's are still well adhered and clean. This is a first issue with the tear on John Lennon’s shoulder visible.
The Vinyl: In a Good Plus condition ... Has retained a jet-black glossy pressing sheen all over both surfaces and looks to have been played frequently but not handled badly. There are no warps, no scuffs, no needle drops, no groove wear, no scratches. The surfaces are clean and have retained their original lustre and project a strong mirror-like shine. There are lots of feint hairlines. The condition clearly shows the potential for a decent audio rendition.
Mothers & Stampers: 1 GL/ 2 GH
Inner Sleeve: Original tracing-paper lined EMI advertising inner sleeve in Very Good Condition with no splits, and fairly neat opening seam. Has a few handling creases and discolouration.
The Labels: Very Good condition. Very minor play-wear to the spindle perimeter, ad quite a lot of spindle line traces to the spindle point. KT tax code present and still bold.
The Audio: There is a little deviation from the original audio quality but nothing major. It plays well, very clear and lucid with quiet background noise only audible in the linking grooves between tracks and some of the fade-in’s and fade-out’s. Lucid instrumental detail and raw original deep imbalanced mono bass channelling, and loud and punchy vocals. No jumps, no pops, no clicks, no skips, no sticks etc. a decent listen overall just not perfect but OK.
