THE BEATLES
RUBBER SOUL
1965 2ND MONO PRESSING
This isn’t a standard -4/ -4 matrices original pressing; there are a few distinct differences, in addition to the fact that it is in fantastic condition and sounds great.
Probably the most noticeable difference is the deep raised ridge about a centimetre around the perimeter of the label on Side 1. Generally thought to be CBS record company pressings in order to meet demand levels, but more likely that they were pressed by EMI on an old pressing machine. Either way it is extremely rare to see.
Another feature about the labels is the older MT tax code raised and embossed on Side 2, at a time when the KT tax code was in use. Beatles records from the mid-sixties are predominantly to be found having the KT tax code on the label.
The inner sleeve is an original and correct EMI for this issue tracing paper liner type, but it has completely missed the printing machine! It has no text on it all, but are normally to be found with 'Use Emitex' advertising text on both sides.
Sleeve:
The 1st issue sleeve is in Very Good condition, retaining its rigidity and structure. The spine is completely intact with clear title text. The edges are smooth with no wear. The lamination is tight with a handful of surface creases, and the pictorial retains it’s bright contrast. No tears, no rips or repairs etc. There are light discoloration blemishes on the rear panel, a little corner storage wear, but the flip-overs are very neat.
Inner Sleeve: Excellent condition, completely intact, no cosmetic defects.
The Vinyl: In a strong Very Good Plus condition. The vinyl has retained a jet-black glossy pressing sheen all over both sides. Under halogen light with the disc held at various angles it is immediately obvious that the record has been seldom played. There are no warps, scuffs, dinks, groove wear, and no scratches. There are a few non-feelable hairlines on each side which do not detract from the visual appearance or the playability of the record . The surfaces are clean and have retained their original lustre.
The Labels: Very Good condition. They are in great shape apart from quite a few spindle line traces.
The Audio: There are no detractions over the audio, barely any discernible deviation from the original audio quality. The audio is fundamentally Excellent with a few static tics which are only audible in some of the linking grooves between tracks and a few tics which are audible on a few of the fade-out's. Original warm, clear and lucid sound projection with perfect deep mono bass . No jumps, pops, clicks, skips, background noise, sticks etc. Sounds fantastic.
Will not find one like this again in a very long while, if ever.
