Item Overview
Up for auction is an authentic, 1965 UK mono second pressing of The Beatles' masterpiece, Rubber Soul. This copy features the classic, sought-after -4 / -4 matrix numbers and the iconic vintage black and yellow Parlophone labels.
This is not a top-tier archive copy, but a decent, honest "player's copy" that has been professional cleaned and fully play-tested. Please read the detailed condition notes below before bidding.
Detailed Condition Report
Vinyl (Visual & Audio)
- Visual: There is a visible scratch present on Side A. The vintage black and yellow labels remain in good, clean shape.
- Audio Playback: The record has been cleaned and completely play-tested. There are background crackles and pops audible throughout the album.
- Side A Note: The crackle is noticeably more pronounced during "Michelle", though the visible scratch did not severely impact playback on our setup.
- Side B Note: There is a persistent, ticking sound audible during "In My Life".
- Tracking/Skipping: Crucially, there are no skips or jumps when played on our high-end, properly counterweighted turntable setup. It provides a thoroughly enjoyable, warm vintage mono listen. If you need more photos I can supply - just be aware it is hard to capture all scratches and scuffs!
- Important Player Note: Because this record has vintage wear, it may not track well on a budget suitcase-style turntable or light tracking players. A high-quality or adjustable tonearm is highly recommended.
Sleeve
- Overall in acceptable, solid condition for its age.
- Shows obvious signs of heavy use, specifically noticeable rubbing and wear along the opening edge where the record has been slid in and out over the last 60 years.
Shipping & Packing
The vinyl will be removed from the outer sleeve prior to packing to prevent any seam splits during transit. Shipped securely in a dedicated, heavy-duty cardboard record mailer.
