The first mono pressing has wonderful audio overall and the laminated cover also remains in excellent condition.

First Mono 1/1 pressing on Yellow/Black label.  'The Gramophone Co. Ltd' etc printed around the perimeter edge and 'Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions' also on labels.

Sgt. Pepper's cut out card and red 'fool' inner sleeve included.  KT tax code stamp on S2 label.

 Visual grading

  This vinyl is in excellent condition for 50 years old.  Both sides have a lovely glossy sheen and there are only a small number of very faint hairlines on both sides.  S2 does have one slightly more obvious short hairlines but it has no bearing on the high quality audio.  Overall this is visually one of the best first mono pressings I have seen and whilst it has been played a number of times the audio will not disappoint.

Play grading

The classic title track begins with a minimal amount of static and then proceeds to play with stunning audio.  The clarity and range is 'high end' and has practically no background static.  A sublime start.  'A Little Help From My Friends' is absolutely astounding in its quality and easily grades as Near Mint it is that good.  Rarely have I heard such dynamic quality on a first pressing.  'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds' has a touch of light static on the intro and then plays with immaculate audio and even the fade out has no 'background'.  'Getting Better' plays very clearly again but with a little static on the top end here and there.  However, there are no clicks or pops again.  'Fixing A Hole' is even better and has wonderful clarity and an absolute minimal amount of static that is totally non-intrusive.  A superb version.  'She's Leaving Home' again plays with no clicks or pops etc but there is some static on the top level which is a little more intrusive.  However, it isn't loud and it remains an excellent listen.  I find this track always has some background static and may be due to a mono record being played on a stereo deck.  '...Mr Kite' has less of this static and impresses with excellent clarity and no clicks or pops again.

'Within You Without You' has some light static on the intro and a couple of faint clicks and then has extremely clear audio with only some light static in the background which is a little more obvious on the fade out.  This static is then more obvious during 'When I'm Sixty-Four', but again there are no clicks or pops.  'Lovely Rita' and 'Good Morning...' have clearer audio and play extremely well with just some background static here and there again, not intrusive though in my opinion.  The 'Sgt. Pepper's' reprise again is just incredible, no background and no distortion at all which is such a rarity on this 'loud' track.  The classic 'A Day In The Life' ends this album with very clear sound and no clicks etc but there is some light static again in the background.  There is also some crackle on the long fade out which is to be expected.

Gatefold cover

The G & L laminated cover is in excellent condition with minor shelf wear only.  It is very clean with no marking and the edges have hardly any rubbing at all.  The 'thin' spine has a little wear mainly towards the bottom but it remains 100% legible and only a couple of corners have a minimal amount of rubbing.  The opening edges have barely any handling wear.  The laminate has been very well preserved and has no splits just a small number of very small creases.  The colours throughout remain strong and vibrant and especially on the inside of the gatefold.  The inside is actually beautifully clean, no negatives at all.  Overall this is an excellent example of this iconic cover and you won't see many better.

Red inner sleeve & Cut Out card

The 'fool' inner sleeve is very clean with no marking and has only one 'very clean' split on the bottom edge, light creasing and a very small amount of faint 'spotting'.  It is infinitely better than so many you see though.  The Cut Out card is in perfect condition with no obvious wear at all.

The labels

The yellow/black Parlophone labels are very clean with no marking/writing and have spindle wear only.  The KT tax code is on the S2 label.

I grade according to "Record Collector" guidelines.
