 Visual grading

This vinyl is in wonderful condition for 50 years old.  Both sides have a stunning glossy sheen and S1 especially is in superb shape.  I can only see a couple of very faint sleeve removal hairlines and a couple of tiny marks that have no bearing on the high quality audio.  It looks like new at first glance!  S2 does have a small area of fine scratchy type marks on the first track but again they have little affect on the audio and very few hairlines also.  Overall this is visually one of the best first mono pressings I have seen (and heard!) and will not disappoint.

Play grading

Woah this is good!  The classic title track begins with almost zero lead in static and then proceeds to play with near perfect audio.  The clarity and range is stunning with practically no background static.  A sublime start.  'A Little Help From My Friends' is absolutely astounding in its quality and easily grades as Mint- it is fantastic!  Rarely have I heard such dynamic quality on a first pressing.  'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds' has a mega light touch of static on the intro but is hardly worth a mention really as is barely audible.  The rest of this classic again plays with immaculate audio and even the fade out has no 'background'.  The remaining tracks play with equal quality.  There is just a minimal amount of static on the 'top end' which is a little more obvious on 'She's Leaving Home' but it still plays with beautiful audio.  To be honest this track always has a little background static in my opinion and may be due to being played on a stereo deck.  Needless to say there are no clicks, pops or jumps on this record.  It is incredible to think this record is 50 years old!

'Within You Without You' demonstrates wonderful clarity again although I did hear 3/4 faint clicks on playback.  I don't think this is a real issue as the quality of the audio is still of an impeccable standard and plays with such depth and warmth.  The ending has a little static as does 'When I'm Sixty-Four' but again I only write what I hear and in my humble opinion it isn't intrusive.  This track also had one faint click.  'Lovely Rita' is quite possibly the best version I have heard.  The power and clarity is again astounding, no interference whatsoever.  'Good Morning...' has the same stunning quality.  Wow!  The 'Sgt. Pepper's' reprise again is just incredible, no background and no distortion at all which is such a rarity on this 'loud' track.  The classic 'A Day In The Life' ends this side in supreme style with only the lightest of background static here and there.  The music is not affected and there are no clicks or pops, the clarity is again of a superb standard.  There is just some very light crackle on the long fade out which is to be expected.  Overall a fabulous ending to an album that plays with very little interference.

Gatefold cover

The G & L laminated cover is in excellent condition with minor shelf wear only.  It is very clean with no marking and the edges have hardly any rubbing at all.  The 'thin' spine has a little wear although nothing major and remains 100% legible and only a couple of corners have a minimal amount of rubbing.  The opening edges have almost no handling wear.  The laminate has been very well preserved and has no splits just a small number of very small creases.  The colours throughout remain strong and vibrant and especially on the inside of the gatefold.  The latter is super clean with a minor amount of 'spotting' only near the top of the spine and on the flipbacks...and I mean minor!  Overall this is one of the cleanest mono covers you will see.

Red inner sleeve & Cut Out card

The 'fool' inner sleeve is very clean with no marking and has only one split on the bottom edge, a small amount of 'spotting' and light creasing.  It is infinitely better than so many you see though.  The Cut Out card is in perfect condition with no wear at all.

The labels

The yellow/black Parlophone labels are very clean with no marking/writing and have spindle wear only.  The KT tax code is on the S2 label.
