NOTEWORTHY FEATURES ARE THAT JUDGING BY THE MATRICES AND NUMBERS/LETTERS IN THE VINYL 'RUN OFF' AREAS ON BOTH SIDES OF THIS LP, PLUS THE 'K' 'T' TAX CODE EITHER SIDE OF THE SPINDLE HOLE ON SIDE 1, IT IS A GENUINE AND RARE FIRST PRESSING - AND ONE OF THE BEST EXAMPLES I HAVE SEEN OR HEARD. THE OUTER GATEFOLD COVER BY GARROD AND LOFTHOUSE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION (please read full details below) - THE ORIGINAL RED & WHITE INNER SLEEVE IS BRILLIANT - THE ORIGINAL CARDBOARD CUT OUTS SHEET IS AS NEW - THE VINYL IS SENSATIONAL AND DELIVERS AN INCREDIBLE AUDIO PERFORMANCE (also please see other green text below). IT IS ORIGINAL THROUGHOUT - AND IN MY OPINION IT WOULD BE HARD TO FIND A BETTER ONE.

 I RATE THE COMPONENTS OF THIS ALBUM AS FOLLOWS:

VINYL - THIS IS ONE OF THOSE LOVELY EARLY PARLOPHONE VINYLS THAT REMINDS EVERY VINYL ENTHUSIAST WHY THEY LIKE THIS MEDIUM SO MUCH. RIGID, GLASS LIKE, VISUALLY PLEASING, GOOD TO HOLD AND FULL OF QUALITY. THIS ONE LIES FLAT ON A MOVING TURNTABLE AND HAS A GLOSSY BLACK SHINE AS NEW - SUPERB - THERE ARE SOME LIGHT, SUPERFICIAL WISPY, SURFACE SCRATCHES, AND TWO JUST SLIGHTLY MORE NOTICEABLE ONES, OF THE TYPE THAT YOU WOULD ASSOCIATE WITH A CAREFULLY USED VINYL OF THIS AGE BUT NOTHING WITH ANY TANGIBLE DEPTH AND NOTHING WITH ANY AUDIO SIGNIFICANCE AND CERTAINLY NOTHING THAT AFFECTS PLAY - MY RATING 90% (please also read my audio test below)

LABELS - BRILLIANT, A FEW TINY, ALMOST NEGLIGIBLE, FEATHERY LIGHT SPINDLE LINES AND SOME LIGHT HANDLING MARKS OF NO REAL CONSEQUENCE, ABSOLUTELY NO SPINDLE HOLE DAMAGE AND NO WEAR THAT IS VISIBLE, REMARKABLY GOOD LABELS (Please see photographs) - MY RATING 88%

OUTER COVER - THE CLASSIC FULLY LAMINATED GATEFOLD 'Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd.' (no patents mentioned). GOOD CLEAN WELL SEALED EDGES. SOME LIGHT BRUISING ON THE LEADING EDGES WHERE THE VINYL ENTERS THE COVER, WITH A TINY 'BREAK' TOWARDS THE TOP - TOO SMALL TO MEASURE. SOME VERY FAINT OUTLINE MARKINGS FOLLOWING THE CONTOUR OF THE PERIMETER OF THE VINYL - NOT VERY NOTICEABLE. A FEW SMALL SHORT LIGHT CREASES TOWARDS THE SPINE AREA - MY RATING 87%

SPINE - A LITTLE SQUASHED AND SLIGHTLY SCUFFED ON THE CORNERS BUT FULL READABLE, NO MARKS, NO CHIPS NO TEARS, GENERALLY EXCELLENT - MY RATING 88%

INNER SLEEVE - ORIGINAL RED & WHITE PRINTED PAPER SLEEVE, A FEW LIGHT CREASES BUT EXCELLENT CONDITION - MY RATING 88%

REAL AUDIO TEST / SOUND CHECK: TO ASSIST BUYERS I HAVE DECIDED TO ADD A SPECIFIC AUDIO QUALITY COMMENT BASED ON MY HEARING. I HAVE NOT DONE THIS BEFORE BECAUSE TO SOME EXTENT IT IS AN ‘INDIVIDUAL PERSONAL THING’ BUT WHEN SOMEBODY IS MAKING CLAIMS OF VERY GOOD, EXCELLENT OR MINT ABOUT A VINYL I THINK BUYERS ARE ENTITLED TO HAVE AN OPINION ABOUT HOW IT SOUNDS. I PLAY ALL MY VINYLS ON A PRO-JECT DEBUT lll DECK WITH THE DOWNFORCE SET AT 17.5 mN (1.75 g) THROUGH AN AMPLIFIER WITH BASS & TREBLE SET TO ZERO AND UNFILTERED. I WILL RATE THEM IN PERCENTAGE TERMS, AS I DO FOR THE OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE ALBUM; WITH OF COURSE A SPECIFIC COMMENT IF THEY SKIP, JUMP, SLIDE, SLIP OR SLUR ALTHOUGH I DO NOT EXPECT TO BE SELLING ANY VINYLS WITH THOSE DEFECTS. FOR THE ALBUM IN THIS LISTING THE RESULTS FOLLOW IN GREEN PRINT.

WHAT AN ALBUM. WHEN I LISTEN TO IT'S EASY TO UNDERSTAND WHY IT WAS SO IMPORTANT IN THE HISTORY OF POPULAR MUSIC AND EVERY TIME I LISTEN TO THESE OLD PARLOPHONE RECORDS I AM REMINDED OF WHY COLLECTORS LIKE THEM SO MUCH. APART FROM THE VISUAL AND PHYSICAL / TANGIBLE ATTRACTION, WHICH IS UNDENIABLE, FOR SOME REASON THEY MAINTAIN THEIR AUDIO QUALITY AT A VERY HIGH LEVEL AND THIS ONE IS NO EXCEPTION. FOR ME THIS WAS ACTUALLY AS GOOD AS AUDIO REPRODUCTION GETS. THERE WAS SOME SURFACE SOUND BUT EVEN IN THE QUIETER MOMENTS IT WAS DIFFICULT TO HEAR IT, EVEN THOUGH I WAS TRYING. IN THE END I DECIDED THAT I WOULD JUST DESCRIBE THIS AS BRILLIANT AND, FOR ME, APPROACHING PERFECT. THIS WAS A SMOOTH, FLUENT AND, AT THE SAME TIME, REFRESHINGLY RAW LISTENING EXPERIENCE. MY EQUIPMENT SETTINGS ARE AUDIO CRITICAL AND INTOLERANT OF SURFACE IMPERFECTIONS, BUT THERE DID NOT SEEM TO BE ANY - DEFINITELY NO STICKS, NO SKIPS, NO JUMPS, NO SLIDES AND NO SLURS JUST PURE CONTINUOUS PLAY. THIS FINE LP RATES A COMFORTABLE 90%

HOWEVER, IF YOU PREFER DESCRIPTIONS OF CONDITION USING A MORE WIDELY RECOGNISED INDUSTRY STANDARD MY INTERPRETATION OF THE 'RECORD COLLECTORS' GRADING SYSTEM SUGGESTS THAT ALL THE COMPONENTS OF THIS ALBUM WOULD BE CATEGORISED 'EXCELLENT' OR BETTER.

Makes no sense to me to buy something important and then play the ‘high risk of damage game’ when having it shipped around the world – I hope you feel the same. Packing and Postage charges differ internationally SO I ALWAYS RECOMMEND THAT OVERSEAS BUYERS ASK FOR THESE COSTS BEFORE BIDDING. Unless the prospective bidder / buyer states a preference I always quote Airmail as Surface Mail does not usually cost much less and takes a long time (again more risk of damage or loss I think). Also please note that for British Pounds £3.30 extra you can have an International Signed for service which includes insurance up to £32. Insurance quotations to a value you specify in advance of shipping are available on request. PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR REASONS OF CONVENIENCE AND CURRENCY CONVERSION I CAN ONLY ACCEPT PAYMENTS BY PAYPAL FROM OVERSEAS BUYERS.

PACKING & POSTAGE:  Vinyl’s are removed from covers, but left in sleeves, film wrapped to limit movement and avoid slip.  Covers are film wrapped separately.  I use ‘Premium Quality 600 Micron Card Mailers’ with ‘Ultra Safe’ double 3.5 cm. wide latex strips across the whole of the mailer which provides excellent adhesion and protection. Internally I use 2 of the highest grade ‘B’ flute corrugated card stiffeners to prevent bending, deformation or edge/corner creasing. Packing & postage prices are NOT negotiable on items dispatched individually or separately. However, if you are a similar time multiple buyer where all items purchased are being sent to the same address and they can be combined safely, you can ask for a discounted quotation before bidding. I will always try to be fair with buyers on p&p costs but if you do not want to pay the prices on the listings or quotations please do not bid.  I am not interested in hearing from successful bidders afterwards questioning and complaining about cost of packing and postage! I always keep proof of posting but unless you pay for Recorded Delivery, International Signed For, Special Delivery or Full Insurance I may not be able to assist you with recovery of the item or any of the costs.

PAYMENT: I accept payment by PayPal only from overseas buyers and Paypal, Personal Cheques and Postal Orders in British Pounds Sterling. Cash is an option but only by Royal Mail Special Delivery and no coinage (rounded up). Payment must be completed/cleared into my account within 7 days of the auction ending otherwise I reserve the right to void the transaction

RETURNS: I DO have a standard returns policy (please see details further down in this listing) AND I am always prepared to consider anything which is reasonable. If you have a problem with an item which you buy from me for a reason which was not apparent or disclosed prior to purchase as a result of my omission or fault then I will usually accept return and full refund, including postal charges. In the unlikely event that we cannot resolve our differences by direct communication I am prepared to consider arbitration.
