Description
The Beatles, Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band Mono PMC 1255. This is a First Pressing, with original Wide Spine Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold, flip back sleeve, with “This is a mono recording” (bottom right) and PMC 7027 Mono (top right) and the title for ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’ misprinted as ‘A Little Help From My Friends’ all on the rear of the sleeve. Labels are black with Yellow Parlophone and silver writing, "The Gramophone co..." is written on the outer perimeter and “Sold in U.K...” is also written. Comes with cut-out insert and non-original white inner sleeve.
Matrix numbers are: Side 1: XEX 637-1 Side 2: XEX 638-1
Sleeve:
Early wide spine flip back sleeve is in VG condition. All four sides retain original gloss sheen with very few creases and minimal bubbling to the laminate covering. The corners have been slightly rounded over time, the spine has some wear, see photo, however the title can still be read, and the openings are crisp. Overall a very respectable cover considering that it is nearly 54 years old.
Vinyl:
Vinyl is a strong VG overall, still retaining original mirror like sheen. Side 1 is visually VG- due to a thumb mark on track 2 (see photo) which causes a pop on two turns. The remainder of side 1 plays very clearly other than track 7 which is slightly fuzzy. Side 2 is a strong VG+, with only minor, inaudible surface marks and crisp audio throughout. Both sides play with minimal background noise and without skipping or jumping. This is a nice listenable record.
Inners:
Non original white inner sleeve in Ex condition. No rips, tears, or creases and without discolouration. Cut-out original insert is NM without creasing and with sharp corners.
This is a nice record overall. As the the sleeve suggests, ‘A Splendid Time Is Guaranteed For All’.
