THE FIRST PRESSING WITH RARE WIDE SPINE SLEEVE

The Sleeve: Very Good condition. 1st & original wide spine gatefold sleeve with top fold over flaps.
Fully laminated with moderate storage top and bottom corners of the spine. All text clear and glossy and the pictorials have retained their original bright colours. There are some light superficial creases to the outer sleeve. There are no marks or pen writing. The spine is 8mm wide and is the first and original. It has received some wear down the decades and has some scuffing and indents here and there on the front and back but not inside the photo of the Fab Four.  It is widely accepted that these first wide spine sleeves were made in order to fit a collection of 'goodies' that The Beatles had originally intended to be inserted into the sleeves. Due to storage issues at EMI the collection of inserts was developed into a single cut-out's card and narrower sleeves were quickly manufactured instead. The wide spine variant is therefore the first and original and far more rare than subsequent original sleeves. The iconic photo inside of the Fab Four is superb with no creasing or marks, fully laminated, and the inside is as good as them come 50 years on. 
The inner partition is intact. 
Catalogue number and 'Mono' stated on top corner reverse.

This is a neat and clean sleeve which holds record and inserts well.


Inner Sleeve: This is a red half tone and white EMI advertising inner sleeve which was being issued in England in the same year for other releases. The original Fool's psychedelic inner is missing.
Cut-Out's Card: Excellent condition. No discoloration, no handwriting or writing imprints, no record ring wear, and complete and intact.
The Vinyl: In Excellent Minus condition. The vinyl surfaces retains bright black glossy finish and the surfaces look stunning, having an appearance that can easily grade in the Excellent bracket. It does have a number of ultra-light stylus hairlines here and there in some of the areas on either side, which are mainly visible when stood under direct strong lighting. There are no blemishes, no scratches, no obtrusive hairline marks and those that are visible are only superficial. There are no dinks in the vinyl, no warps or scuffs or anything which adversely affects the audio. The vinyl surfaces are clean and smooth all over and there is no groove wear.
There are no scuffs, or warps to the vinyl.    The photographs were taken under direct bright light to show condition.
The record lays completely flat on the turntable.
The is a heavy slab on vinyl that weighs more than most at mega 182 grams. The vinyl's that came with the wide spines tended to be solid to suit the wideness of the sleeve.

Labels are Excellent.  All text clear and bright, the perimeter area around the spindle location point is neat and there is hardly any trace at all of any spindle lines. This record has been handled very carefully.

KT tax code code from the mid-sixties is embossed on Side 1. SOLD IN U.K. text across label and The Gramophone Co. Ltd text around rim.

The Audio: The audio quality is Excellent Minus overall matching its appearance. The LP plays from beginning to end on both sides smoothly with no major audio detractions.  There are no skips, jumps, sticks, loud ticks or pops, and no background noise. The playback has several light ticks that can be heard in between track changes and just one or two of the quieter parts, these do not overcome the audio, and are only apparent when there is not much sound. These heavy sixties pressings were made robust, and this is still a very good listen, and it should also be considered for its authenticity as an original Sgt Pepper 1st MONO artifact. The vocals are particularly crisp and clear and remain unaffected from any background noises, and the MONO base line is haunting and original.

This LP will be securely delivered in a professional cardboard LP mailer with cardboard stiffereners.
A plain generic inner sleeve will house the record and the original will be placed separately to prevent tears during delivery.
A protective PVC 180 gsm Gatefold sleeve is included to house the LP as shown.
The LP will be delivered recorded in the U.K.
Overseas postage will be tracked and a tracking number given.
