The BEATLES official USA Capitol 1980s reissue release of their THIRD Original US Capitol 1964 STEREO LP album SOMETHING NEW from August 1964 with 11 songs, mostly taken from their recent UK album A HARD DAYS NIGHT (JULY), and some singles and EPs. Another Beatles hodge-podge or “butchered” album not consistent with Beatles albums in UK. However, this one is considered a great mix of Beatles original movie hits and rockers and some covers and the unique German language version of I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND (originally released on 45 singles only in Germany and Australia!!). NOTE: This Stereo copy still has Issue number ST2108. Mono was T2108. By 1988 this was on Capitol Purple labels but with a new issue number, C1-90443. So, this version pre-dates that version. But is it Purple from 1978 or Rainbow from 1983??? This one is produced by George Martin. Fantastic, As always!! The 33rpm vinyl is always the best way to collect Beatles albums. Another of the worlds most iconic covers on a record album! The early Beatles with 1964 “long hair”, cover photo from the Ed Sullivan Show 2/9/64! A beautiful cover! This STILL SEALED LP is graded Goldmine NM, never opened, believed to contain the Purple Capitol labels shown in photo 3, but could be the Rainbow Capitol labels in photo 4!! Anyone know for sure?? I spent an hour trying to verify!! I bought this copy SEALED around 1989! It is UNPLAYED. It is UNOPENED!! See photos. Truly Near Mint. Eventually ALL Beatles UK albums were remastered for 1987 reissue. And of course remastered again in 1995 and 2012, I think. So, most of the “original ten” US Beatles Capitol Albums will probably NEVER EVER be reissued again on vinyl!!! Classic hits here are: SLOW DOWN, THINGS WE SAID TODAY, AND I LOVE HER, and I’LL CRY INSTEAD. Of course every song is a classic, even today, 55 years later. My favorite: IF I FELL!! The Beatles aimed at getting the LP to market following the huge success of the movie A Hard Days Night and that UA Soundtrack LP) as well as the SLOW DOWN / MATCHBOX single in the US!! Both the single and the album reached Number One in August ‘64. And 9 LP songs were originals by Lennon-McCartney and the other 2 were Rock and Roll standards. They all still sound so fresh, with Incredible energy from the Boys as they attack your ears with superb melodies and harmonies! This is a beautiful record, quite wonderful sounding!! John was 24, Ringo 25, Paul 22 and George 21 on this album release date. The cover/sleeve is SEALED in original shrink wrap since its purchase by me. I quickly learned to handle them as little as possible, especially one of these “new” reissues which I thought would become rarer and greatly treasured!! Most have press number on the back just left of the RIAA Seal, but not the final later issues like this one, so I guess the market will tell me what these are worth! This one is very nice!
