Description
For sale is a very rare very early copy of the U.K. 1st Mono press of the iconic Beatles Album Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
The copy is complete and in all round VG+ condition
The most rare and desirable aspect of this copy is the famous ‘Fourth Proof’ gatefold sleeve. This has the words Fourth Proof and the AR D 13217 script on the inside right top. A vey limited number of early copies came with this test cover. Also,identifiable by the Patents Pending words on the rear of the sleeve.
Most Fourth Proof seem to have very poor condition spines, but this copy is in great condition.
The original Fools/Flame inner in VG condition
Original card insert in excellent condition
The record is visually VG+ and sonically VG.
Very early stampers- 1MO and 3R
Both sides play through without sticks skips or jumps. There are a some occasional light clicks and crackles on side one but nothing that interferes too much with the strong Mono sound.
There is surface noise and some clicks on track 1 side 2. There are occasional clicks on the remaining tracks so I would grade side 2 as VG-. Again, no skips sticks or jumps.
This is definitely not an audiophile copy as regards sound, but it is the rarity and condition of the sleeve and the very early stampers that mark this copy out as something special.

In an auction listing any offer should be substantially ABOVE the starting bid figure, not below it. Otherwise, one might as well list as a but it now with offers allowed.
