The ONLY way to own this Seminal Psychedelic Record!!!!

The Sgt. Pepper UK 1st press is, in my opinion, the hardest Beatles album to find in anything approaching Excellent condition. Due to the commercial appeal of this record, virtually all 1st press copies you will find have have been played to death, with severe dulling of the playing surfaces, surface marks and lots of crackle, pops and skips. The 'psych' inner is either missing, or very tatty with seam splits. And they are impossible to find with their earliest 1st issue 'widespine' sleeves!!! So to find a true chunky 1//1 Matrix widespine 1st is hard enough, believe me. But to find one in STUNNING audio and visual condition throughout like this is impossible. This is an absolutely essential record for any high-grade Beatles/Beat/Psych collection and definitely worth pushing the boat out for.  I will describe the record as best as I can. Garrod & Lofthouse 'Widespine' Sleeve


Label condition: The Yellow/Black Parlophone centre labels are in stunning Ex condition. They have no tears, scribbles or any other signs of wear. There is only the faintest trace of spindle marks on both sides. This record has clearly only been played a few times. 

Vinyl condition: A very heavy1967 UK 1st pressing. I cannot emphasise how very difficult it is to find Mono 1st press copies of this LP that have not been played to death, on the rare occasions that the do turn up they are full of nasty scratches and gouges. This one is very clean. It looks absolutely stunning with a deep shine and just has one or two of the faintest non-feelable hairlines. These in no way detract from the fact that this this record has only seen very few plays. And remember - this is the earliest 1st Mono press, straight from the master sounding raw, louder, more defined and more punchy than all the weaker later re-pressings.  This plays beautifully. Having a clear, clean Mono sound is so important on this record more than so many others, this is a beautiful record to listen to. This is one of the very best examples I have ever seen of this LP. You will not find a more pristine UK 1st pressing of this record!!! It will grace any high grade 1960's Beatles/Beat/Pop collection and I have graded it as Excellent to account for the occasional tiny  hairline as mentioned above and the small split in the 'psych' inner sleeve, otherwise it would easily grade Ex++ / Nr Mint!!!  Absolutely beautiful!!!

Sleeve Condition:
The original 1st press Garrod & Lofthouse 'Earliest Widespine' laminated gatefold sleeve is also in superb condition. These sleeves just NEVER turn up with the earliest 'Widespine' in this condition!!! Even the later and much more common 'narrow spine' sleeves ALWAYS turn up grubby and worn-out looking today. But to find a true 1st press 'Widespine' mono sleeve -in this kind of condition is impossible!!! The laminate is in beautiful crisp, clear condition, bringing out all the bold vibrant colours of this legendary sleeve!!! It has NONE of the laminate 'dulling' common with this sleeve!!! Please look at the photos, they show it for its true beauty. The sleeve still retains ALL of its original stiffness and BOX SHAPE!!! It has NO unwanted writing or scribbles (again, very common with other sleeves) The sleeve lies perfectly FLAT with NO RING WEAR!!! These 1st press sleeves always turn up totally worn out-looking nowadays with severe damage to the spine, with corner & edge wear, stains and ring wear (especially to the back). This has NONE of these faults and easily grades as Ex!!! On the opening side there is some very minor scuffing, I have taken a close up photograph of it so you can see it is nothing to worry about but I like to tell people exactly what they are getting. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND THIS ORIGINAL 1ST PRESS GARROD & LOFTHOUSE 'WIDESPINE' 1st PRESS GATEFOLD IN THIS CONDITION ANYMORE!!!

Inner Sleeve: Importantly, it comes complete with its correct Red/White' wavy inner sleeve!!! Known simply as the 'Psych' or 'Fool' inner, these are very hard to find today. Most original pressings have lost this rare inner over the years, this psych inner is in great condition but does have a split on the opposite side to the opening,  where the record has gone through it a bit. It is VG and still you will see the photo shows it is nice and flat with no creases or other tears.

Don't miss this one as 1st press 'widespine' copies like this only come around very rarely. This is the ultimate UK 1st press of this psych monster, straight from the master.

"MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
