THE BEATLES - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band ' FOURTH PROOF ' Sleeve
THE FULLY LAMINATED GATEFOLD SLEEVE HAS SOME ISSUES BUT IS IN OVERALL DECENT CONDITION.
THE INTERNAL PART OF THE GATEFOLD IS THANKFULLY THE BEST PART OF THE SLEEVE WITH NOT MUCH WEAR.
THE SPINE HAS OBVIOUSLY HAD WEAR AND BEEN SELLOTAPED TO PROTECT FROM FURTHER DAMAGE AT SOME POINT IN IT'S 56+ YEARS, AS HAS A SMALL SPLIT TO THE BOTTOM ON THE RECORD HOUSING SIDE. GENERAL WEAR TO CORNERS.
THE RECORD IS INCORRECT AS IT'S AN ORIGINAL STEREO PARLOPHONE COPY AND NOT MONO AS IT SHOULD BE. THIS IS HOW IT WAS FOUND SO I DON'T KNOW THE CIRCUMSTANCES HOW IT FOUND IT'S WAY INTO THIS SLEEVE.
NO MATTER AS IT'S THE SLEEVE THAT'S OF REAL INTEREST TO COLLECTORS.
THE RECORD HAS A COUPLE OF FEELABLE SCRATCHES ON SIDE 1 BUT PLAYS THROUGH OK WITH CLICKS.
SIDE 2 HAS SURFACE MARKS BUT NONE LOOK SERIOUS OR ARE FEELABLE.
THERE IS NO CUT OUT AND THE INNER SLEEVE IS A REPLACEMENT.

Extremely Rare '4th Proof' Sleeve!
On offer here is an incredibly rare copy of the Beatles LP 'Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band'. This particular copy is rare as it carries the 'Fourth Proof' print on the sleeve.
The 'Fourth Proof' copies of Sgt. Pepper are the earliest possible sleeves ever to have come off of the production line. When the cover for Sgt. Peppers was being designed a small set of protoype sleeves, or proof sleeves, were mocked up for the group to view and give their okay too. After this approval, a tiny 'test' run was carried out to make sure everything looked okay before the 'Fourth Proof' text and 'AR D1321' (a possible reference or catalogue number for the typeset or design used) text was removed from the design and production fully started.
It was only the copies on this very tiny initial test run that featured the 'Fourth Proof' text and, today, copies that carry this are very hard to find.
