Description
Many thanks for your interest in my records! I've collected records for over 30 years and as such sometimes take stock and realise how many duplicates I have accrued, and how many records I no longer listen to. The records I'm listing today are generally of lesser rarity, but are in really nice condition, I grade using the RRPG Record Collector grading system, though feel that I grade down if anything, please check my feedback for proof of this! I have sold many records (some incredibly rare ones in the 4 figures) over the years, so please rest assured that my gradings have been satisfactory so far! Though, If you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me before leaving negative feedback. I haven't had negative feedback so far, and don't intend to start now if I can at all help it!
I'll combine records for the same price for up to 3 disks (double LPs count as 2!), and at as reduced a rate as I can beyond that! International bidders please ask, as I'll send them as cheaply as possible for you,but they must be sent tracked and insured.
THE BEATLES Sgt Pepper's Lonely HeartsClub Band Fourth Proof Sleeve (Very 1st!)
Here we have another little mistake from the factories. Whilst designing the sleeve for LPs, the designers will make a mock-up or "PROOF" sleeve as an example. When they have decided which version to use they will put out the chosen one for production, and that'sjust what they did with the very earliest copies of the Sgt Peppers sleeve... sadly they overlooked the text denoting it as the "Fourth Proof" (situated on the upper flip-back tab of the right-hand side of the inner gatefold along with othe other makers' notes "AR D 1321" on the left-hand side of the same tab). These versions also had wider spines than most copies. As soon as they realised they corrected this oversight, but a very few had already got out, and this is one of those very few examples!
Record Condition: VG Though the record isn't the most significant part of thispackage, it's a generally very nice copy, with just a few "withdrawal-style" surface hairline marks, and one or two more visible marks that do cause a few light pops in afewofthe quieter passages, but all-in-all,really nice,strong audio playback!
Labels Condition: VG again,very respectable,comepletyclear from graffitti, rips, tears, stains, etc. The only obvious detriment is a small white whisker-like scratch near the bottom of the side two label (luckily nothing like than on the playing area of the record!) And even then very thin, and all of the text is still completely legible. Very slight whitening to the central spindle-holes,though the ridges, and centrally ebossed "KT" tax code on side 1are entirely unworn and fresh!
Sleeve Condition: VG all importantly the sleeve! Really very nice! Completely free from graffitti, tears, stickers, residue etc. A very nice copy with light shelf-wear to the top and bottom edges, though no wear-through,opening mouth edges slightly foxedand with some very small indents/nicks, but no tears or mends etc. Slight rub to the corners, though nothing particularly bad. Laminated front and back a few slight folds/indents inb the lamination, but again, very nice. The widespine nature of these spines make themparticularly dlicate, and most often folded in the middle, that has happened here,and though there is alittle bit of print loss,it's still fairly legible, and there is no wear-through, which is quite rare for these! The laminated inner gatefold is lovely, with absolutely no graffitti, stains, tears etc, it even makes a nice light crackle from the crisp laminate on the inside of the spine as it opens! And the all important "Fourth Proof" denotation tab (along with the other one) is very clean and crisp. All-in-all, really respectable copy of a very rare, very first Sgt Pepper Fourth Proof Sleeve!
