Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler."

As well as the above grades, Near Mint is often used as well; this is really for a record that appears new but is known to have been played because the label has light spindle marks or because it has come from a previous owner and is assumed to have been played by them. For records which appear to fall between the accepted grades, + and - are also often added to the grading.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: It seems that this Album may actually be a 2nd Pressing..... according to the info below

I have just done some further research and found the following info from http://thebeatles-collection.com/wordpress/2011/10/05/the-bearles-the-white-album-apple-pmc-70677068/

1. First pressing, November 22, 1968. Dark green label with an image of an apple on side 1 and sliced apple on side 2. First label variation have “33 1/3? text at the top line of the left side and “Sold In U.K. subject to resale price conditions, see price lists” text. Publishing year printed with small copyright symbol (p). The labels are quite dark although the actual shade of green varies greatly among copies.

2. Second pressing, November, 1968. Dark green label with added “An E.M.I. Recording” text to the left of the labels, above the “33 1/3? text and “Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions, see price lists” text. Publishing year printed with small copyright symbol (p).

I HAVE ALSO RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING QUESTION TODAY......

Dear whitewing11,

Hello
I'm interested in your album, but, In title of your page you say Mono and the stamped on run Out is Stereo. Can you please tell me what is correct? or please load a picture of he label. thanks

TO WHICH i ANSWERED....

Hi, I'm not sure exactly what you mean. I've checked the whole listing and I can't see that I've made any mention of the record being STEREO. All the the labels have PMC 1st is PMC7067 and 2nd is PMC7068, which I take as indicating a Mono pressing. The Stampers on the record are what they are but I have no idea how they would indicate stereo or mono, I've only included them because they seem to matter to some people. However I have included an extra couple of photos of the Labels. I hope this answers your question. If I am missing something with this album please let me know. I believe I have listed it correctly but will only be to pleased to amend should it be necessary. Thanks for your interest....
