Description
A great opportunity to buy a copy of a RARE 7 inch VINYL single from the 60's by Tony Sheridan & The Beat Brothers called "My Bonnie", with "The Saints" on the B side.
The Beatles spent a number of months in Hamburg, Germany playing in various clubs in 1961 and 1962. They backed the British guitarist and singer Tony Sheridan and they both became signed to Bert Kaempfert's production company.
In June 1961 they made their first recording session. "My Bonnie" was recorded with a German introduction and an English introduction.
In October 1961 the single was released in Germany with the German introduction. This was the Beatles first commercial recording.
In December 1961, the English version was released in Germany and this is the version available for sale here. The single did not use the name "The Beatles", but credited "Tony Sheridan & The Beat Brothers". Consequently this becomes the second commercial recording by the Beatles.
The English introduction version was subsequently released in the U.K. in January 1962 on the Polydor label (NH 66833) and was credited to "Tony Sheridan & The Beatles".
The single available here is the German pressing (Polydor NH 24673) and it has the usual large centre pressing and an adaptor is supplied.
The matrix numbers are 24673-4 A (side A) and 24673-2 B (side B).
The vinyl is in a clean and VERY GOOD condition. I always examine and grade records under a bright table lamp and there are many light surface marks noticeable, but nothing serious. I have played both sides and they play fine and sound great.
The labels are clean and free from any writing, stickers or major defects.
The record is perfectly flat and has no warps of any description.
The record is housed within a generic German Polydor company sleeve in a GOOD condition, with a number written in the top corner and noticeable wear along the opening edge and around the die-cut (It is over 50 years old!).
This is obviously a VERY RARE and HIGHLY collectable 60's Beatles single and should be of interest to avid collectors.
