Apple Records Emidisc / Apple Acetate Mailing Box.

A true Apple Records rarity here and a very unusual item. A 1960's / early 1970's Apple acetate mailing box. It would appear that this originally contained EMI emidisc acetate recording blanks and was used to securly transport them (acetates are notoriously fragile). At some point the box has been used to transport an Apple acetate or acetates to a location in York (northern England to any overseas buyers). The box still retains the original 'Fresh from Apple' postage label and 'A is for Apple Records' promo sticker.

The front centre features what remains of an Emidisc type label BUT also features the word SEAL. I guess this was a security seal against unwanted opening of the box. Under the label is a screw which firmly holds in place the contents (acetate disc or discs) and screws tightly into the bottom of the box. The box contains what I guess are cardboard stiffeners to further protect the contents. The outside is worn as pictured and the inside still retains a gloss finish.
This is about as rare as it comes with regards to Apple memorabilia. I have never seen another and doubt I ever will.
