NOVEMBER 1968 PRESSING 

The Sleeve: 

Top loading sleeve in Very Good condition, fully laminated with only some minor signs of shelf wear on corners; bottom right corner and top left corner have rubbed where lamination is exposed but no staining. All text legible and pictorials clear and glossy and has held original colour well. Inside the gatefold is also very good plus, Very near excellent; smooth, glossy and looking very clean with clear print and unblemished black & white square pictorials of each band member. A couple of light marks near the edges and a few small creases on the right fold over flap, but overall very glossy and white. The BEATLES logo on the front is embossed and raised as it was on all first issue sleeves, and the number is in the 7 digit format also embossed. Quite low number 0179724.

The laminate along the length of the spine is fully intact and complete apart from about 1cm where it has a bit of lifting. All original title and catalogue number text is legible. The spine has no edge wear along its length.

The sleeve is firm and flat and intact, including the inner partition, separating the parts and keeping all held in well.

No handwriting, no handwriting imprints and no sticker or sticker residue anywhere.

Inner Sleeves:

Good Plus condition. The 1st pressings of the White Album came with plain black inner sleeves with the label window on one side only, and one bottom edge corner having a slightly wider slant than the opposite bottom corner. One of these has a side split, both have record ring wear creases. One is in overall better condition and is intact at all the seams. These inner sleeves rarely survive well and are usually missing or have ripped windows, and a lot of general fraying, the windows on these are not ripped at all.

Poster:

Excellent Condition. No blemishes, and no tears or rips, and has survived extremely well.

A couple of tiny creases on some of the fold lines extremely hard to see.

The Four Portrait Photographs:

Excellent Condition, no corner creases, and hardly ever removed from the sleeve.

The Vinyl:

The vinyl surfaces are consistently in a Very Good condition. There are no feelable or deep scratches on either side of either discs. The vinyl surfaces on both of the discs reflect a jet back sheen and look smooth. Turned angled towards light there are superficial surface hairline marks and cleaning trails visible over the surface areas on both sides of both discs, but there are no scuffs or warps or anything that causes any interruptions to the audio. The glossy sheen is still present and there are no areas of dulling or groove wear. The records look to be in a well above average condition for a first pressing, with evidence of having received a fair amount plays commensurate with age, but look respectable and have nothing worrying about them.

The records lay completely flat on the turntable.

Robust Sixties vinyl's weighing at around 160 grams.

Labels:

All text is clear and bold and background colour is all bright. There are some noticeable spindle line traces on each but hardly any wear to the perimeter of the spindle location area, very neat on most of the labels on this copy. Labels on sides 1, 2 and 3 are all Very Good Plus, and the only label with any immediately noticeable spindle wear/ traces is Side 4 which is about a grade lower at Good Plus. All sit perfectly on the spindle point on the turntable.

The Audio:

The audio grades at Very Good Plus, very near Excellent across the discs. Both discs play through clearly on both sides, with no pops, no background noises such as crackle or hiss, and there are no skips/jumps or sticks. There are some mild static ticks which can be heard on some of the lead-in's, and the quieter parts on some of tracks on each of the sides, and on the majority the records play nicely without any noticeable static ticks, offering a crisp and strong original mono rendition of which many critics regard as The Beatles finest masterpiece.

The vinyl sides 1, 2, 3 and 4 are all from the very first mono master recording and none are from the second master recording. The mother stamps are quite low considering some of these 1st and  2nd mono's went into double digits. The labels are the 2nd variation with 'An EMI Recording' text - this label was printed in the same month of November 1968 as the 1st variation type which omitted that text on one of the LP's for just a few weeks. The number on the sleeve is around halfway through the mono pressing cycle - it is well known that numbers 0000001-0300000 were used for 1st and 2nd Mono pressings and some exports of the White Album. The mother and stamps on this copy are quite low considering the quantities pressed, some stampers could be double or even treble digits. These factors indicate that this is a first Pressing with the second variation label.

This LP will be securely delivered in a professional cardboard LP mailer with cardboard stifferners. 

New plain black generic poly-lined inner sleeves will house the records as shown, and the originals will be placed separately.

A new protective PVC 180 gsm gatefold sleeve is included as shown to house the LP.

This White Album will be delivered by recorded delivery in the UK.

Overseas postage will be tracked and a tracking number given.
