Hello and welcome to this auction for a 'Beatles - 'White Album' 12" 1968 Apple TOP OPENING LOW NUMBERED first press LP vinyl' in overall VERY GOOD condition.
This record includes the original discs, black die-cut inner sleeves, poster and photos! It is considered a low number (0026405) and has 'The BEATLES' embossed on the front with a stamped number.
VINYL:-
Visual:
- Side 1 - quite a few hairlines and light scratches, nothing deep or feelable. Rated as GOOD+/VERY GOOD-. Label is VERY GOOD+.
- Side 2 - same as Side 1!
- Side 3 - lots of light marks and light scratches but nothing deep or feelable. Rated as GOOD+/VERY GOOD-. Label is VERY GOOD+.
- Side 4 - same as Side 3!
Audio:
- The audio is currently rated as VERY GOOD/VERY GOOD+! I have play tested the entire album and can confirm that there are NO SKIPS, NO JUMPS and NO STICKS on my system! There is some background crackle throughout but it isn't overbearing or intrusive. A deep clean could help with this situation but it is most probably a well-played but well looked after copy. The audio is very punchy, crisp and loud!! Original tonality is present and it's a very enjoyable listen! These original stereo mixes are amazing! Lies very flat and plays very well!
The original black die-cut inner sleeves are in GOOD+ condition. They do have some creasing and some relatively small ish splits along two of the three edges. The bottom edges of both inner sleeves are fully intact, with light rubbing.
The original four portrait photos of The Beatles are in GOOD+ condition. They all have some staining, creases and scratches on them. They were certainly placed on someone's bedroom wall as there is tape residue in the corners but nothing major and you can still see the intact faces of The Beatles! There is a slight tear on the John Lennon photo towards the top.
The original poster is intact with some small tears and wear along the seams. There is no evidence of tape, pin holes or blu tac etc. The only issue is that someone has written 'I've got blisters on my fingers!' at the end of the Helter Skelter lyrics. I think this is a nice touch but obviously it does affect the original condition of the poster so I thought I should point it out! Elsewhere, slight staining, age-related wear and light creases.
The sleeve is 100% intact and rated as GOOD+/VERY GOOD- only. Unfortunately, there is a split to the front top left panel, about 3.5" approximately. Everything is still housed nicely and this could probably be fixed (I'm not an expert at restoration). This makes The Beatles more or less unreadable on the spine but the mono and stereo information is readable on the spine. The front of the sleeve has some ringwear and discolouration. The number (0026405) is fully readable and nicely stamped. The rear of the sleeve is the same as the front with general wear and tear. The inner gatefold is nice and clean with light creases and light ringwear. The flipbacks are tight and intact, just discoloured. Overall, a well-used sleeve that is holding up well and will house the records, poster and photos well! PLEASE SEE ALL PICTURES!
