THE MAGNIFICENT MONO MIX!!! EASILY the rarest of the two mixes, and the ONLY way to hear this classic LP!!!, (see why below) and not only that, this is a 100% complete example with ALL 4 photos AND poster in EXCELLENT CONDITION, and topped off with FANTASTIC sound!!! DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS ICONIC MASTERPIECE!!!

The numbering format given to this iconic album was as follows; the first 300,000 were mono and above that number they were stereo. So this album is in within the first 23% of the first batch of MONO 1st Pressings, so VERY early and VERY collectable.

It is probably essential to have this RARE album in both mono and stereo mixes, as almost every track has some differences. The following tracks have the most marked variations. When I first got this album on it's release, (44 years ago!) I obviously didn't have a clue that there were any differences, until about three years later when I heard a friends copy.

"Back In The U.S.S.R."

The airplane overdubs occur in different places on the mono and stereo versions.

"Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da"

The stereo version has hand-clapping during the intro, the mono version does not.

"While My Guitar Gently Weeps"

The stereo version has some vocal sounds from George at the end, the mono version does not.

"Blackbird"

The bird sound effects are quite different between the stereo and the mono release.

"Piggies"

The pig sound effects are quite different between the stereo and the mono release.

"Don't Pass Me By"

The mono version is much faster than the stereo, and therefore is shorter.
The violin sounds at the end are markedly different.

"Why Don't We Do It In The Road"

The stereo version has hand-clapping during the intro, the mono version does not.

"I Will"

The stereo version has more prominent bongos.

"Birthday"

The stereo version has extra vocals at the end of the second chorus.

"Sexy Sadie"

The stereo version has two taps on the tambourine during the intro, the mono version only has one.

"Helter Skelter"

The stereo version has a fade-out/fade-in dummy ending with Ringo's shout of "I've got blisters on my fingers", the mono version does not ! ... this makes the stereo version almost a minute longer.

"Long, Long, Long"

The stereo version is fine, but on the mono, George's double-tracked vocal is embarrassingly out of synch.

"Honey Pie"

The stereo version has a shorter guitar solo than the mono version.

This MASSIVELY RARE LP initially sold barely anything as a Mono (LP's were also really expensive to most people back then!!!) and therefore had a very small run, and is HARDER TO FIND, especially in this condition!!! An absolute classic LP from the worlds most famous and successful  band!!! An astonishing album that really DESERVES to be in EVERY serious 60's / 70's record collection!!! I try to grade my records as accurately as possible and obviously want to give 100% satisfaction to my buyers. I have played and listened to this brilliant album on an ION Profile deck whilst converting it to itunes. I have graded using the Record Collector grading system as follows: I do not and will not sell records that jump or skip, or are warped. 

RECORD COLLECTORS GRADING SYSTEM:

MINT: THE RECORD ITSELF IS IN BRAND NEW CONDITION WITH NO SURFACE  MARKS OR DETERIORATION IN SOUND QUALITY. THE COVER AND ANY EXTRA ITEMS, ARE IN PERFECT CONDITION.

EXCELLENT: THE RECORD SHOWS SOME SIGNS OF HAVING BEEN PLAYED BUT THERE IS VERY LITTLE LESSENING IN SOUND QUALITY. THE COVER AND PACKAGING MAY HAVE SLIGHT WEAR AND/OR CREASING.

VERY GOOD: THE RECORD HAS OBVIOUSLY BEEN PLAYED MANY TIMES BUT DISPLAYS NO MAJOR DETERIORATION IN SOUND QUALITY, DESPITE NOTICEABLE SURFACE MARKS AN OCCASIONAL LIGHT SCRATCH. NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE COVER AND CONTENTS WITHOUT ANY MAJOR DEFECTS IS ACCEPTABLE.

GOOD: THE RECORD HAS BEEN PLAYED SO MUCH THAT THE SOUND QUALITY HAS NOTICEABLY DETERIORATED PERHAPS WITH SOME DISTORTION AND MILD SCRATCHES. THE COVER AND CONTENTS SUFFER FROM FOLDING, SCUFFED EDGES, SPINE SPLITS, DISCOLOURATION ETC.

ORIGINAL TOP OPENING VG++

This Garrod and Lofthouse ORIGINAL sleeve has aged really well with just a little yellowing, (common for this album) the embossing is still lovely and deep, and the number 0069113 is still really, really clear. The top opening shows some signs of use, not surprising considering it's age! with just slight feathering. The right side of the opening edge shows light lifting of the lamination, (see photos) of about 1.5 inches. The spine is still fully intact and readable, with just slight lifting of the lamination, (again see photo) The inside flipback gatefold is lovely and clean with just normal signs of aging and slight yellowing, (again common for this album) The back and the front show mild general surface grazing where it has been stored on my shelving and pulled in and out. I am tending to bring it down by listing the most minor negatives I can possibly find, but this remains an OUTSTANDING sleeve, and a TRUE rarity to find one as incredible as this - most have been virtually destroyed, horrendously yellowed with nicotine, or are just about being held together, but not this one!!! It remains bright, strong, solid, unsplit and unspoilt, and despite a touch of minor unavoidable laminate flaking, even the spine remains ultra strong, solid, unsplit, and 100% readable!!! Must grade overall at least as Very Good++!!!

ORIGINAL BLACK INNER SLEEVES: 

The black paper used for these inner sleeves was very soft, almost fluffy looking, and very fragile, so obviously with age they split. Both sleeves have minor splits on the sides/bottom however they still hold the LP in place. I could of replaced these sleeves and put their condition down as MINT, (as I'm sure some do) however that would not be fair on the buyer, so I will also provide TWO BRAND NEW BLACK INNER SLEEVES with the album and the winning buyer can make their own decision on using them. 

PHOTOS AND POSTER: EX+++

ALL ORIGINAL AND EXCELLENT.  The photo's and the poster are in superb EXCELLENT+++ condition, they have no tape marks, pinholes or tears. They are the original items from the day that I bought this superb RARE album. The photo's are AWESOME with minor handling marks, they still have lovely deep rich colouring, unlike later releases which looked as if they were printed at home, or photocopied. The Garrod & Lofthouse lyric sheet/poster shows very, very slight yellowing on the edges, and obviously the original folds to get it into the sleeve. NO TEARS, SPLITS or MARKS, SUPER CLEAN!!!

LABELS: EX++

Classic UK 1st Press 'Sold In UK' NO 'AN EMI RECORDING' on any of the dark Apple labels!!! All sides are GREAT with minimal signs of age, NO writing, NO stickers, and NO tears whatsoever!!! Just has a little cosmetic whitening on the spindle holes, and just a small amount of minor spindle marks from general light use over the years!!! BRILLIANT for a 44 year old record!!! (see all photo's)

VINYLS: Visually All sides VG+

Spectacular Original 1968 UK 1st Press Vinyls!!! Nice bright, clean and shiny !!! that look GREAT for their age (44 years!) with NO nasty deep scratches whatsoever, and NO deep groove-breaking vicious scuffs whatsoever!!! Only one small mark on 'While My Guitar' (does not affect playing or sound) The only other blemishes are just a few light scuff marks, a few cosmetic hairlines and age marks here and there, and just some of the usual light wispy sleeve traces (only visible in direct angled light) from general use and where it has sat or been removed from it's cover over the years!!! Of course, none of these mild blemishes interfere with play AT ALL thanks to the deeply pressed quality!!! Used, but definitely still BRILLIANT for a record of this age and rarity!!! Must grade overall as Very Good+!!! 

VINYLS: Audibly All sides EX

Thankfully, it plays AMAZINGLY with fantastic mono depth and clarity!!! It really sounds incredible with the minimum of hisses, No hops, sticks OR skips!!! Only has a tiny amount of isolated ticks in few and far between places, literally the merest hint of the lightest possible distortion on only the very rarest of occasions (incredibly mild, so minor that it takes a VERY well trained ear to spot - the vast majority sounds astonishingly crystal clear), and possibly just the MEREST TOUCH of low level static in the rarest few and far between places such as on the run in grooves and between some tracks, but that's truly about it!!! The vast, vast, majority of the music is TRULY crystal clear - It really does play superbly, but with that depth, bass, warmth and clarity you can only get from UK 1st Press vinyl!!! EVEN in most of the quiet sections!!! Absolutely ESSENTIAL!!! ASTONISHING for a record of this age and rarity!!! Must grade overall audibly as Excellent!!!

So there you have it, as much as I can say for this RARE 1st PRESSING of THE WHITE ALBUM, A used, but truly FANTASTIC sounding example of this IMPOSSIBLY RARE 100% complete classic Mono 1st Press LP!!! Hard to find in ANY condition, but SERIOUSLY RARE TO FIND ONE AS GOOD AS THIS!!! This could conceivably be one of the very best examples of this RARE 1st PRESS WHITE ALBUM you will ever be offered so don’t let it slip through your fingers.
