Description
THE BEATLES – WHITE ALBUM – WIDE SPINE No. 0005316, SLEEVE ONLY.
1968 PMC 7067-8 – MONO SLEEVE.
A FIRST EDITION MONO SLEEVE WITH THE ULTA LOW SERIAL NUMBER OF 0005316 ALSO FEATURES AN UNUSUAL WIDE SPINE. THE NORMAL SLEEVE CAME WITH A SPINE WIDTH OF 6MM, THIS SLEEVE, THE WIDTH OF THE SPINE IS NEARLY 9MM !.
CONDITION:
MAIN SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition, the double album gatefold sleeve has ‘The Beatles’ embossed onto it and a VERY LOW unique individual serial number of 0005316. This number appears clean and sharp. A top loading sleeve, this is an original MONO sleeve, this is confirmed by the fact that there is NO text on the top right rear of the sleeve. The sleeve has little in the way of the usual discolouration and is white and very clean. Made of the period thick heavy card, it features two exposed flipbacks, they are in excellent condition and are firmly stuck down. The spine is in very good condition, it has a little flaky laminate, the wording on the spine is “ The Beatles and Stereo PCS 7067-8 and Mono PMC 7067-8 ” all the text is readable, the sleeve in general is very strong and shows very little wear and signs of handing over its 41 years !. The opening edges are all very good, There are a few light scuffs and creases and there is some discolouration around the embossed 'Beatles' logo.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS AUCTION IS FOR THE SLEEVE ONLY, IT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE RECORDS, THE INNER SLEEVES, THE POSTER OR THE PHOTOGRAPHS.
I am using the official grading system from Record Collector Magazine.
Grading System
The seven standard condition categories and a description of what each one means are listed below:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
+ or – : indicates a grading in between categories.
