Description
For sale is an incredibly rare ‘Holy Grail’ copy of the Beatles second album ‘With the Beatles’
I am calling it a Holy Grail copy for the following important reasons
1) It is a U.K. first press
2) It is the much rarer 1st Stereo issue
3) The original darker photo sleeve has the large Stereo on the front
4) The rear of the sleeve has the ‘Gotta’ misprint in the track ‘You really gotta hold on me’
5) The side two label has not only the rare ‘Gotta’ misprint, it also has the rarer ‘Jobete’ miscredit for the track Money, but to cap it all has the rarest ‘Domion’ misprint instead of Dominion on track three
6) Possibly the best reason of all to class this as a Holy Grail copy- both sides have been pressed with the very first 1G stampers.
The original sleeve is in excellent condition with barely a crease and a perfect spine.
The original Use Emitex inner sleeve is VG+
Both labels are clean with minimal spindle wear.
Side 1-Matrix YEX 110-2 1G stamper
Side 2-Matrix YEX 111-2 1G stamper
Visually both sides are VG. Each side has a long but superficial scratch and a few scuffs but nothing too deep.
Sonically side 1 is VG+, with no sticks skips or jumps. Some crackles between tracks, and on tracks 4 and 5 some surface noise which is only really discernible in the quietest sections and between tracks.
Side 2 is a very strong VG+ with only occasional crackles between tracks as an issue
Not a mint audiophile copy but a very enjoyable listen with few sonic issues, but nothing to interfere with or interrupt the music.
