An OZ historic Beatles gem - 1st press & very early Australian December 1968 sleeve numbered A 26180

AUSTRALIAN NUMBERING - Early sleeves had a unique five digit number stamped on the front cover prefixed with a capital “A”. Around the 61000 mark, the “A” prefix was replaced with “Nº”. The lowest and highest numbers verified in the “A” range are 00001 and 61511, and in the “Nº” range are 61392 and 94930. From 1969 the Australian sleeve changed to a five digit number with "No." prefix rather than the original “A” prefix.

Vinyl Grade: VG, all sides are fully covered in light scratches, a gloss surface, no bad deep scratches, from the amount of scratches surface noise would be expected.   

Sound Quality: VG, fully play tested, all sides have fairly continuous light surface noise, more noticeable in quite sections of music, does not detract from the music,  can be played loud with no clicks or pops, but sticks in a groove on side 4 just as the sound starts for the very last track on side four, last track plays after moving stylus on a bit.

Cover: worn gatefold top loading cover, numbered A 26180, edge wear, spine wear and partly splitting apart down spine, old tape along spine. Four photos are excellent, with original black paper inner sleeves, lyrics collage poster insert included.      

Labels: clear, no spindle wear.

Records graded directly under very bright table light for the visual grade. Sound quality checked by playing to ensure that visual grade and sound quality are consistent. 

Mint M and Near Mint NM: Looks perfect as new. N and NM is only appropriate for new reissue records and not for vintage vinyl that has been played, regardless of how perfect it may look.

Excellent Plus +EX: Lovely gloss, no visible scratches, scuffs or marks. Has been played but has been handled well and still in great condition. (highest grade that I use for vintage vinyl)

Excellent EX: Lovely gloss, shows some slight signs of wear, including light trace/hairlines from the inner sleeve, light scuffs or very light marks that you would not expect to hear as surface noise. 

Very Good Plus +VG: Shows a few more very light marks than is allowable for EX so not quite EX. These signs of use would be expected to cause some light surface noise but not to detract from the music.

Very Good VG: Shows light scratches and marks and some that you would expect to cause surface noise, especially in soft passages, between tracks and during a songs intro and ending but not so much as to overpower the music which can still be enjoyed.

Very Good Minus -VG: Shows significant wear and marks that you would expect to cause noticeable surface noise that detracts from the music.

Good G: In the record world, 'Good' is not good! From here on down (Fair, Poor), we're talking about beat-up records lacking much of the original gloss and with many scratches and marks that you would expect to cause very noticeable surface noise and clicks/pops that seriously detract from enjoyment of the music.
