THE BEATLES (White Album) 1968 mono 1st Press PMC 7067/8 *No.0022979*
The album has been in the family from new. It was pre-ordered in 1968 from a record shop in Leeds whose name has been long forgotten. There are no EMI credits on either disc. Please check the photos for other relevant identifiers.
I don't know how important this info is but here it is anyway!
The matrix numbers all end in '1' and I have listed the 'mother/stamper' markings below. Side 1. 2 - GAR. Side 2. 3 - GGD. Side 3. 5 - TL. Side 4. 1 - GGD.
(On Side 1 the number 9 appears below the stamper number 2. On Side 4 The matrix number is at 9 o'clock and the other numbers are re-positioned accordingly.)
I would conservatively grade both discs as vg., they are shiny and clean but have perhaps too many light surface marks for a vg+ grading. However, having play graded all four sides, the audio is clear and bright throughout, whilst having light background in quieter passages. There are no skips/repeats. The labels are clear and unmarked and the spindle holes show no wear at all. There are just a few spidery spindle marks if you look very closely.
The Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve is worth a VG+. There is light ringwear, and the spine is scuffed (see picture), however there are no tears or splits, and only one light corner knock to the bottom right of the front. The inside surface is clean with the owner's name in small, neat caps in silver. The top opening edges are very lightly scuffed.
The original black inners are worn but intact with some old tape repairs as can be seen in the picture.
The four photographs are mint, quite unmarked.
The poster/lyric sheet is unmarked with one or two short splits along the fold lines.
A genuine one-owner album being sold by the original purchaser.
