Description
The Beatles - 'The Beatles'
This auction is for an original first Mono pressing of The Beatles infamous self-titled double LP album, known affectionately as the white album, numbered 0255511.
Top opening gatefold sleeve is in nice condition but has a worn spine. Vinyl is in used but nice condition with first press matrix numbers and low stampers. Labels feature dark green apple and 'Sold in UK' but omitting 'An EMI Recording'. Comes with original pictures, poster and black inners - all with varying degrees of wear. So in summary not great condition but still listenable to and complete none the less.
THIS WEEK I AM ALSO SELLING A SUPER RARE VERSION OF THE BEACH BOYS 'PET SOUNDS', A RARE MONO FIRST PRESS OF JEFFERSON AIRPLANE'S 'SURREALISTIC PILLOW' IN NICE CONDITION & OTHER GEMS, I CAN COMBINE POSTAGE AND SHIPPING COSTS (ONLY £1 FOR EACH ADDITIONAL VINYL).
Label / Catalogue Number: PMC 7067-7068
Year: 1968
Matrix number (Stampers in brackets): Side 1 - XEX 709-1 (3-HA), Side 2 - XEX 710-1 (7-TL), Side 3 - XEX 711-1 (2-PH), Side 4 - XEX 712-1 (4-PP)
Sleeve: G+ (original Garrod and Lofthouse gatefold sleeve in good condition with only minor discoluration and wear, except spine is very worn and tatty)
Vinyl: VG (hairlines visible when held up to the light but nothing deep, both discs play with moderate crackle heard mostly during quieter places but no pops or skips - great mono sound, as always. Labels good except for side 2, which had something written on it which has been subsequently scratched off)
Pictures: EX- (all four beatles pictures are present but ringo has a little creasing to the top left)
Poster: F- (poster is fragile and has much wear including splits and sellotape residue)
Inners: VG (original black inners are in fairly good condition)
Record Collector Grading System
- MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
- EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
- VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
- GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
- FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
- POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
- BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
