THE BEATLES

“YELLOW SUBMARINE”

WOW!! WOW!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and hard-to-find original MONO very first press released in Chile in 1969 by Apple Records, made and distributed by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Odeon, S.A. (Odeon Records), catalog number APPLE 2003, with machine etched matrix numbers XEX 715-1 2 (not sure if it’s “2”, part of the number is covered by the label) in Side A and XEX 715-1 2 in Side B, with traditional Apple Records labels. Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND!!!

“YELLOW SUBMARINE” was originally released in 1969 and the same year it was released in Chile, but like in most of the cases of that period, we got this album with an UNIQUE COVER!!! The cover is non-laminated and is the typical Chilean cover made of 2 single sheets of paper attached (not glued) to a thin cardboard kept together for an outer plastic bag. Front cover keeps strictly the original UK artwork with album title written in English only and subtitle “Nothing Is Real” below the word “Submarine”, maybe the only difference is the darker colour in this Chilean issue and the loss of a little part of the drawing at right side, clearly seen if you compare with the original UK or US front cover the number “3” in the chest of the Butterfly Stomper. In back cover, and maybe one of those example of unique design for the cover artwork released in Chile, they kept strictly the US back cover artwork, only printed in black and white, with the tracklist written in English, translated to Spanish, with the original liner notes of Dan Davis translated to Spanish, with no additional information or credits!!! It’s interesting to see that in back cover the sides are identified as “Faz 1” and “Faz 2” but in labels they are informed only “A” and “B”. In labels the album title and tracklist are written in English only and one more time we got a rare design, because the back cover lists 6 songs in Side 2, with second track “Sea Of Time And Sea Of Holes”, just like in the US back cover (originally listed “Medley: Sea Of Time & Sea Of Holes”) but in label they use the UK design, with 7 tracks, number 2 “Sea Of Time” and number 3 “Sea Of Holes”!!! WOW!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in VG or VG+ condition, with some light creases and little rips at the top edge of back cover, but no blemishes or writings, only some evident water marks at the bottom edge, more obvious at bottom left corner and left side in front cover and at bottom right corner in back cover, with moderate age browning. The original outer plastic bag is missed. The record is in G+ or VG- condition both sides, still glossy and clean but with loads of scuffs, hairlines and scratches of all sizes, which don’t affect play. Labels are in NM- or NM condition both sides, absolutely clean and clear, with only minimal spindle hole wear. The sound is in strong VG- condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, with a soft background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), constant crackles and light pops and clicks, more evident in the silent parts between the songs and not so soft in the songs “Hey Bulldog” and “It’s All Too Much”. In this song, “It’s All Too Much”, I detected some jumps, some of them disappeared just adjusting the weight of the tonearm, but some other jumps are there, with no sticks. But I’d recommend a vacuum cleaning anyway. Overall, sure this record isn’t for Minty minds or audiophiles, that’s a fact, but this record is so rare that collectors know that no matter the condition, it’s A MUST TO HAVE, and this copy still has a nice cover and keeps a very decent and respectable sound quality (sure it sounds much better that how it looks) after almost 46 years and many plays, with the only "problem" in the songs already informed. WOW!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the cover and labels in detail.

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a copy of this RARE record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile.

_________________________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
