Description
The Beatles : Yellow Submarine 3/1 2nd Stereo Press (Red Lines)
This second stereo pressing plays to an excellent standard with only a little interference on S2.
As this is still one of the earliest pressings it has the two red lines on the back cover. The cover itself is in excellent condition with only a little wear on one of the flipbacks on the reverse.

The audio on S1 is Ex+ (Near Mint in many sections / Track 5 Ex / T6 Ex-)
The audio on S2 is Ex (Ex+ in many sections / T2 VG-)
The cover is a very strong Ex (lower flipback on back cover VG)
The inner sleeve is Near Mint
The labels are Near Mint-
Play grading
The classic 'Yellow Submarine' plays with stunning clarity. With only minimal static on the intro the playback is superb throughout and grades as Near Mint for sure. 'Only A Northern Song' often has a fair amount of 'background' but this version plays with great clarity and there is very little intrusion - a couple of light ticks in the middle but that's about it. 'All Together Now' and 'Hey Bulldog' are as close to audio perfection as could be and grade as Near Mint the playback is so impressive. 'It's All Too Much' has a small number of light static ticks on the intro and then plays very well with only minimal inner groove distortion. This is actually a very good result as it often plays with a lot of distortion but...not here! There is a little crackle right at the end of the track and overall I think Ex is deserved here. 'All You Need Is Love' ends the side with a little more distortion (again this is common) but there are no clicks or pops.
The 'orchestral' S2 overall plays very well but with some interference here and there. The first piece 'Pepperland' has only minimal static and grades as Ex+ and whilst the music on 'Sea Of Time' plays very clearly there is a little more static and four clicks, two of which are caused by a tiny speck that I cannot remove! The second half of this section plays better but with some light static again. The remainder of the side is certainly 'cleaner' with only a couple of clicks. There is a greater clarity and the three final tracks in particular play extremely well with very little intrusion. 'Yellow Submarine In Pepperland' is stunning! Not a perfect side but the majority does play very clearly.
Visual grading
The vinyl is in lovely condition and retains a very strong glossy sheen. There are no scratches and I can only detect a small number of very faint hairlines. There is one mega tiny 'speck' on S2, more on that below in my play grading.
The Cover
The G & L cover is in excellent condition with only minimal wear. The edges and thin pinched spine have no rubbing/wear and the corners are also very clean. Only the bottom left corner has a little more wear. The opening edge has only very minimal handling wear. The laminated front cover has no marking and only a small number of faint creases around the edges and a slightly longer one lower left. The back cover (with the red lines) is very clean with only a couple of very minor marks. The only obvious wear is on the lower right flipback which is a little loose and has some creasing. It looks like some glue might have been applied to this section. Apart from this small section the cover really is in excellent condition and is rarely seen as clean as this.
The Inner Sleeve
I'm not sure if this is the original inner but it is nonetheless in great condition with no side splits or marking and barely any creasing.
The Labels
The Apple labels are in superb condition with no marking or writing and only some spindle wear on the S2 label, nothing on S1!
