Description

The BEATLES YELLOW SUBMARINE LP issued on Capitol Records SW-153.  This is not a re-issue or later pressing, but an original pressing from 1969 and it is SEALED.  No rips or tears to shrink wrap...no bar code...corners are tight and free of any major dings or bends to the cardboard...the opening shows thick grey brown colored cardboard (not the white re-issue cardboard from the 70's releases). Bottom of reverse side reads the following in capitol letters:

"manufactured by capitol records, inc., a subsidiary of capitol industries inc., hollywood and vine streets, hollywood, calif. factories scranton,pa., los angeles, ca., jacksonville, ill."

To the left of the printing shows the "printed in USA" within a small circle...and to the right hand side of the printing is the RIAA logo.

The spine of the record has the following from top to bottom:

"The BEATLES YELLOW SUBMARINE"in upper case black letters, "Stereophonic" in upper case white letters inside a black rectangle, a white Capitol logo and SW 153 in white.  There is absolutely no reference to Apple Records anywhere on the cover.

Cover is thick, brown cardboard that is visible at opening beneath the shrink.  The front color slick wraps around to the back while the back color slick (being the smaller size) overlaps the front slick.

Although it is almost impossible to tell of an absolute first pressing without looking at the label to check for the capitol logo on the perimeter, it is probable that this pressing is a first because of where I acquired it and the year of the other sealed LP's that accompanied this one.  I purchased a large collection of sealed and mint LP's from the estate of a former Capitol Records Engineer who had boxes of lp's stored in his house in Los Angeles.  Other sealed LP's found in the collection were released from the early 60's like Jackie Gleason all the way thru the early 70's like BANG, Quicksilver Messanger Service, Cannonball Adderley...etc.  I have some up for auction right now.  Adding up the characteristics of the cover, where I acquired the LP, and the other sealed records from the same era as the release of Yellow Submarine (early 1969), I feel this is a first pressing...but there is no way to be sure unless the LP is opened.

Tracks are as follows:

Sie One - Yellow Submarine, Only a Northern Song, All Together Now, Hey Bulldog, It's All Too Much, All You Need Is Love

Side Two - Pepperland, Sea of Time and Sea of Holes, Sea of Monsters, March of the Meanies, Pepperland Laid Waste, Yellow Submarine in Pepperland
