The Beatles Yesterday EP - Parlophone GEP8948 First Pressing
MONO EP in Very good condition
Side 1: Yesterday & Act Naturally
Side 2: You Like Me Too Much & It’s Only You
This is a first pressing, from March 4, 1966. It has a Black Parlophone label with yellow logo and silver print. The words “The Gramophone Co. Ltd…”are printed at the start perimeter print and the publishing year printed is shown as “(p) 1965? and with “SOLD IN U.K…” It has a push-out or solid center which has never been removed and which is embossed with the code KT.
The matrix numbers are: Side 1: 7TCE 894-1, Side 2: 7TCE 895-1.
The record is in very good condition. It has some surface marks and the occasional light scratch (which is probably not surprising considering it is now nearly 50 years old!) but it plays well, lies flat on the turn table and has a nice shine.
It has the original sleeve from 1966 with rounded cut flaps at the top and bottom. The sleeve is in good to very good condition - no rips or tears, no writing. Just showing normal wear and tear for its age and with slight nicks where the record has been taken in and out but which are minor. These early sleeves were 'laminated' and this means that they generally show some rounding around where the record in held inside and have the occasional bubble or line. Sleeves from later pressings were not laminated but this lamination can reflect the light and highlight areas when photographed and make the sleeve look worse that it is. As a result the actual sleeve for this record looks better in real life then it does in the above photo!
I’ve had the record for around 25 years but I’m now reluctantly selling it before my kids are old enough to start playing with (and ruining) my record collection!
All in all I consider this to be a good addition to a Beatles collection and a very reasonable first pressing.
