Beatles Yesterday and Today 3rd State Mono Butcher LP

We have up for auction one Beatles “Yesterday and Today” LP from 1966, the BUTCHER version, in good condition.  T 2553.  Mono. 3rd State. VERY VERY RARE.  As many people know, this album caused instant controversy due to the infamous BUTCHER cover.  Capitol Records didn’t want to pay to have all the records repackaged so they pasted a new cover over all of the LPs with the controversial cover and shipped them. The problem was, once the glue set in it became harder and harder to remove the new cover … it’s virtually impossible to do it today without completely disfiguring the original BUTCHER cover.  So… it’s SUPER RARE to find this Beatles “Yesterday and Today” LP with a decent looking BUTCHER Cover.

Condition of the LP

COVER- I would say it is in GOOD condition, considering it is 40+ years old. As per the circumstances described above, the cover does have some minor damage in a couple of places- obviously due to the original owner’s attempt to peel off the sticker.  Includes original plastic dust jacket.  Please have a look at the photos, you can supersize them if you need to by clicking on them.

SLEEVE- This LP ships with the original interior sleeve.  The sleeve is in good condition as well.  Again, please have a look at the photos, you can supersize them if you need to by clicking on them.

LP- The actual vinyl is in decent shape… it does have some scratches and fingerprints, as to be expected from an LP that’s 40+ years old.  I don’t know much about cleaning LPs so I didn’t attempt to do so.  I tried to take a photo depicting the condition of the vinyl, so that potential bidders would know what to expect.  It played fine from start to finish on my record player but I obviously can’t make promises in regards to everyone’s record player, as I don’t know how sensitive other models/needles can be.  Again, please have a look at the photos, you can supersize them if you need to by clicking on them. 

  I have attempted to describe this LP as accurately as possible, so that there are no surprises.  This is a rare, rare, rare LP that would make a fine addition to any Beatles fan’s collection but keep in mind that we are talking about something that is 40+ years old and due to the vintage nature of this item, it is being sold AS IS.  Please email me with any questions.  Thanks and good luck!
