Description
Here we have now a great Beatles collectable. It is a 12" picture disc of their 1966 album titled "Yesterday and Today", from a 1980 Beatles convention. Now this was back when that kind of thing was just getting started (pop culture conventions), and was the 4th annual Beatles convention in Chicago. (They actually use the word BEATLE, instead of Beatles....twice! See pics)
"Yesterday and Today" is a best of, sort of, up to that point. The band had a photo of themselves taken with blood, meat, and broken baby dolls, while wearing butcher coats. This came to be known as the "butcher baby cover". Capitol Records actually said no way, and made them re-release it, with a kinder, gentler cover featuring a pic of the boys, standing up, next to a trunk (Paul is actually in the trunk). They even put a sticker of the new cover over the old cover, and now those copies are worth a lot of money!
There was a couple of versions of this picture disc that came out. There was even a reprint from a few years ago. But this was made in 1980, or before, and is starting to show signs of oxidation. The very cool thing about this version, is that it was made and sold ONLY at this Chicago convention, in '80. The back of the record has that printed on it (see pics). Other than the oxidation, the record looks pretty good. No scratches, gouges, or marks. Just some light surface marks, but nothing bad at all. A rare and scarce Beatles collectable, as they were only a few made!
