Credits on the album sleeve and labels to George Martin
Also sleeve credits to GARROD & LOFTHOUSE INTERNATIONAL LTD. on reverse cover.
Apple in line up with first track listing.
HER MAJESTY’S CREDITS OMITTED from the album sleeve and also on the Apple labels.
The above omission makes this album MEGA RARE and has become a very highly sought after album, especially in this magnificent condition!!!.
Sleeve
Single laminated. Near perfect and in a beautiful condition, probably the best I have ever seen. The cover has retained its very glossy sheen and has a mirror like finish. Has the minutest of 2cms fray on the spine and one of the corners is very slightly scuffed. The reverse album cover has the famous song “Her Majesty’s” omitted and this makes this particular copy very scarce especially in this condition. There was such a demand for this album, that they needed to manufacture them very quickly and some went through the net with errors on and this was one obviously made post haste !! Apple aligned to the first track listing and Garrod & Lofthouse credited at bottom of sleeve. The covers are however in near perfect condition and the overall grading of the sleeve is superb .You won’t find a better early example than this!!
Labels
Absolutely immaculate examples of the most famous label in the world. Very precise Apple outline in a unfaded dark green on side 1 and a pure white label unblemished on reverse. E.M.I. recording credits printed on upper part and Mtd in UK. Her Majesty’s again omitted from the credits on the label. Some spider marks visible but do not detract from the beauty of these Mega RARE labels!!! Wonderful collector’s item again.
Inner sleeve
The sleeve housing the vinyl is THE original as it has all the markings of a very special collector’s item. It of course has the original poly lining as has the British Patents Pending inscribed on its outer layer Truly awesome for the connoisseur collector. Perfect with no tears or unwanted writing.
Vinyl
Excellent visual condition . 35 years of age and it appears near perfect. Under strong light you will pick up light surface marks but they remain very insignificant under ordinary conditions. Nice heavyweight thick pressing. Gorgeous mirror like sheen. Hallmarks of a very early pressing. I know that this is a true original first pressing because I still remember to this day that I had to reserve my copy on the day this album was released! There was such a demand for a copy of this LP that I knew I would not be able to get one unless I especially reserved one. So that is what I did, and I received this very album on the day Abbey Road was released!!
Audio
I have listened very carefully to this album and am reluctantly giving away because ,without doubt, this has to be the best Beatles album that was ever released. The tracks on this LP are well known and I was surprised how many soft tones there were all the way through apart from the occasional sudden change in tempo exemplified in Polythene Pam. There is a very soft blend of subtle guitar playing combined with gentle lyrics for the majority of the album and this necessitates very clear channels. This vinyl has crystal clear audio channels and there is virtually no background interference. The audio is VERYNEAR PERFECT!!!!! There are silent grooves between tracks and the guitar instrumentation is quite stunning.
The opening track “Come Together” as you know is fairly quiet with a muted tone but the percussion beats throb away from speaker to speaker and with the awesome talents of the group, the audio is quite amazing. The soft lyrics of “Something” is a dream to listen to . You need an excellent plus audio grading to bring the best tones out of this LP and the gentler tones and subtle lyrics blend together with the near silent grooves to give a stunning effect. The best audio can be heard on “Here comes the sun” by Harrison with the wonderful acoustic guitar playing, as each pluck of the strings is heard with crystal clarity and the results are awesome. “You never give me your money” is a very quiet song and if there was any crackling , it would destroy the melody completely but there is little distortion and the minimal of background noise if any. These channels are perfect with no groove wear and if you do hear the odd crackle ,it is very distant and fails to interfere with the overall presentation.
Summary
This album is a SUPERB copy of a MEGA rare Apple pressing. Condition is overall a strong excellent+ grading. You will never see or hear a better copy than this one. Vinyl and labels are near perfect, album sleeve a collector’s dream, and the audio channels are near silent and crystal clear, with minimum distortion. With the additional rarity of the omission of Her Majesty’s credits ,it puts the icing on an already very rich cake! These albums do not surface very often if at all, so good luck to all as this album will be highly sought after and will be a treasure in any record collection!
