THE BEATLES-DAY TRIPPER TYPE 7" SINGLE LABEL/PRESSING INFO

PARLOPHONE

This is a a transitional pressing. In July 1965 EMI consolidated its various labels into one new umbrella company. THE GRAMOPHONE CO LTD. which was to be its new vehicle going forward, this didnt happen all at once and early pressings still used the old THE PARLOPHONE CO LTD labels as they were tooling up for the new company, this lead to an odd situation where during the change over some of the old Parlophone labels were being used up, and the new Gramophone replacing them, and you end up with a combination of both.

But this isnt the only reason that this copy is quite rare, its that during all of the above going on it managed to be pressed with 2 DAY TRIPPER labels 1 Parlophone & 1 Gramophone, (with the new layout, 1965 under the matrix number as opposed to above it) . The actual DAY TRIPPER side plays on the 2nd press label. see pictures.
