Description
Welcome to my auction for a copy of
PLEASE PLEASE ME....super rare...Holy Grail copy.
MONO..FIRST YELLOW AND BLACK LABEL.1 G IN MATRIX AS FIRST PRESS
Only just been discovered to exist by the R.C. magazine
ADDITIONAL SMALL 33 1/3 ON LABEL
SEE PHOTO
Whilst the last copies of the Gold and Black labelled albums were coming out of the pressing plant,a handfull of Yellow and Black pressings were following through the pressing and labelling process, concequently the small 33 1/3 that is on the Gold and Black labelled album found its way to the very early 3rd pressed genuine albums and as mentioned in the above named magazines, only a few were labelled with the 33 1/3 addition before the new labels were printed..
Two machines were supossedly used in the pressing, one for the Gold and Black and one for the new designed Yellow and black label... hence 33 1/3 still being added to a few labels before being changed over....
PMC 1202........1963............MT TAX CODE.....ON SIDE TWO......
Side 1...stampers..XEX 421-1n..2RR.. 1 Lacquer. 2 mother...22 stamper......
Side 2..Stampers XEX 422..1-1n.1 G.. 1 Lacquer...1 Mother..1 stamper....as first press copies have(Gramophone)
Now the album itself....
I will grade the vinyl as VG + some would say Ex -...
The record shows some signs of being played (which i did).but there is little lessening in sound quality,in fact the quality is just sweet, maybe a little crackle here and there, but a good clean with one of those state of the art cleaning machines will do the trick.Hardly any sound in-between tracks.
There are noticable surface marks and occasional light scratches,(i did play the album) the appeareance and sound quality for a 1963 album is just beautiful a 48 year old album.....WOW!
Just played it,nostalga at its best.
Labels free from writing, but there is spindle wear.vg or better...
Vinyl lays flat,no warp,no chips.......a true example of early sixties heavy vinyl.no jumps, skips etc.
Sleeve, can only grade the original one as good due to wear and splits, clear tape to strengthen its top and bottom edges, flipbacks, the bottom one is folded over..spine intact, fully readable with all the words. Also it is the correct one for the album, with the large Mono and E.J.DAY printed with Angus McBean to the far right.......The good news is that i will be adding an excellent G & L Sleeve.........THATS TWO SLEEVES.
INNER SLEEVE ORIGINAL USE EMITEX CLEANING CLOTH..in excellent condition, vinyl will come in an additional new inner sleeve .
This album will grace any Beatles fans collection and remember that there are not that many in circulation,so eventualy they will be in demand. It is not mint,as i did play and handle it.
Infact this is more rarer than the Black and Gold labelled version......as only a few were labelled with this extra 33 1/3...
Due to the rareness of this album Special delivery for the U.K is recommended
