TOP EXCELLENT+ (REALLY NICE CLEAN RECORD with just the MINIMUM of playwear and MINIMAL handling marks even under a lamp there are just a couple of very small and very light marks to the vinyl,and the reproduction is brilliant throughout and even as a self confessed MONO person I do like these mid 60's stereo pressings with their subtle mixing not overblown and over engineered like later efforts)

EXCELLENT+( CLEAN with NO writing rips or tears,there is a bit of light mostly closy packed spindlemarking a bit of very light spindlewear caused by 60's record players having oversized spindles and a very light blemish on side 2.)

Front board.Inner gatefold EX+ CLEAN with NO writing rips tears repairs stickers or remains,the laminate is bright and shiny with VERY LIGHT rubbing wear and a VERY LIGHT pressure mark.There a few light laminate creases near the opening and a light crease at the bottom of the opening. Rear board EX+ Rear white board is clean and unmarked with VERY LIGHT ageing and a small handling mark in the centre (at the tip of Paul's ciggy) Flipbacks EX+ CLEAN and complete and stuck fast with a couple of light cracks Spine EX+ Complete and uncrushed with no laminate loss and clear lettering and a bit of wear near the bottom Top & bottom edge EX+ Top and bottom edges have minimal wear with NO laminate loss or rubbing wear Opening EX+ THE opening has LIGHT wear and VERY LIGHT usage Corners EX+ Corners have LIGHT wear with a bit of rounding and wear at the bottom of the opening   INNER /EXTRAS

While the Beatles still largely stuck to love songs on Rubber Soul, the lyrics represented a quantum leap in terms of thoughtfulness, maturity, and complex ambiguities. Musically, too, it was a substantial leap forward, with intricate folk-rock arrangements that reflected the increasing influence of Dylan and the Byrds.

The group and George Martin were also beginning to expand the conventional instrumental parameters of the rock group, using a sitar on "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)," Greek-like guitar lines on "Michelle" and "Girl," fuzz bass on "Think for Yourself," and a piano made to sound like a harpsichord on the instrumental break of "In My Life." While John and Paul were beginning to carve separate songwriting identities at this point, the album is full of great tunes, from "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)" and "Michelle" to "Girl," "I'm Looking Through You," "You Won't See Me," "Drive My Car," and "Nowhere Man" (the last of which was the first Beatle song to move beyond romantic themes entirely).

George Harrison was also developing into a fine songwriter with his two contributions, "Think for Yourself" and the Byrds-ish "If I Needed Someone."
