EXCELLENT+ (CLEAN record with just VERY LIGHT playwear and just a few LIGHT surface handling marks-plays well throughout

EXCELLENT (CLEAN LABELS with NO writing rips or tears repairs stickers or remains VERY LIGHT spindleusage, and VERY LIGHT playwear/handling wear,there is a small patch of wear at the top of side 2,where I assume a label has been removed)

SLEEVE

 

Front board.Inner gatefold EX+ NICE AND CLEAN with NO writing rips tears user stickers or remains.Front laminate is bright and shiny with minimal rubbing wear no pressure marking or creasing.THE INNER GATEFOLD is clean and unmarked with minimal ageing and handling Rear board EX+ Rear board is much as the front clean and unmarked with shiny laminate no ringwear a bit of light pressure marking right at the bottom and some light creasing and storage wear. Flipbacks EX+ Internal flipbacks are complete and stuck fast with no rubbing wear or colourloss. Spine EX+ Wide spine is complete and uncrushed or flattened with nice clear black on white lettering a couple of small laminate cracks and some wear at either end. (as with these things I make a card insert to ensure that they dont flatten during transit) Top & bottom edge EX+ ALL 4 top and bottom edges are in good condition with just a couple of very small laminate nicks on the bottom front edge Opening EX+ The openings have LIGHT wear and LIGHT usage Corners EX- There is a bit more wear than I would have liked, mainly to the opening bottom on the rear board which is quite worn with bare card, and the spine ends which is lees so but still showing wear.   INNER /EXTRAS

INNER SLEEVE: EXCELLENT+ (REALLY NICE CLEAN EXAMPLE, with NO real wear to the body of the sleeve save for one corner crease and a very light pressure mark,NO edge splits or repairs where you would expect them i.e. at the bottom and sides where the outer edge of the record touches them,minimal wear to the opening, and just a couple of inches of parting of the ways at the top down one side.i have rehoused the record in a seperate sleeve to preserve this state.)

CUTOUTS: EXCELLENT+ (CLEAN and unmarked with VERY LIGHT storage and handling wear)

With Revolver, the Beatles made the Great Leap Forward, reaching a previously unheard-of level of sophistication and fearless experimentation. Sgt. Pepper, in many ways, refines that breakthrough, as the Beatles consciously synthesized such disparate influences as psychedelia, art-song, classical music, rock & roll, and music hall, often in the course of one song.

Not once does the diversity seem forced -- the genius of the record is how the vaudevillian "When I'm 64" seems like a logical extension of "Within You Without You" and how it provides a gateway to the chiming guitars of "Lovely Rita." There's no discounting the individual contributions of each member or their producer, George Martin, but the preponderance of whimsy and self-conscious art gives the impression that Paul McCartney is the leader of the Lonely Hearts Club Band.

He dominates the album in terms of compositions, setting the tone for the album with his unabashed melodicism and deviously clever arrangements. In comparison, Lennon's contributions seem fewer, and a couple of them are a little slight but his major statements are stunning. "With a Little Help From My Friends" is the ideal Ringo tune, a rolling, friendly pop song that hides genuine Lennon anguish, à la "Help!"; "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" remains one of the touchstones of British psychedelia; and he's the mastermind behind the bulk of "A Day in the Life," a haunting number that skillfully blends Lennon's verse and chorus with McCartney's bridge.

It's possible to argue that there are better Beatles albums, yet no album is as historically important as this. After Sgt. Pepper, there were no rules to follow -- rock and pop bands could try anything, for better or worse. Ironically, few tried to achieve the sweeping, all-encompassing embrace of music as the Beatles did here.
