THIS EP IS BY 'THE BIG BOPPER' AND IS CALLED 'CHANTILLY LACE STARRING THE BIG BOPPER' AND WAS RELEASED IN AUSTRALIA IN 1959 ON THE MERCURY LABEL EP -1-2007.

THIS EP IS ONE OF THE RAREST EPS TO BE HAD FROM AUSTRALIA.

LET ME SAY RIGHT FROM THE START THIS COVER IS A LAMINATED COLOUR SCAN BUT A DAMN GOOD ONE. I HAVE SHOWN THIS TO PEOPLE AND THEY HAVE NOT NOT PICKED IT TO BE SO I JUST WANT TO HIGHLIGHT THAT SO PLEASE NOTE IT IS NOT THE ORIGINAL COVER.

THE TRACKS ARE:

CHANTILLY LACE, WALKING THROUGH MY DREAMS, LITTLE RED RISDING HOOD, PINK PETTICOATS AND WHIET LIGHTNING.

THIS EP IS DIFFERENT TO OVERSEAS ONES IN THAT IT HAS 5 TRACKS INSTEAD OF THE OBLIGATORY 4 WHICH WAS UNUSUAL FOR ITS TIME.

THE LABELS ARE CLEAN AND CLEAR BUT SHOW SLIGHT SIGNS OF SOME PLAY AND A MARKER HAS BEEN USED TO COVER A WHAT APPEARS TO BE A TEAR.

THE COVER AS I SAID IS A COLOUR SCAN BUT A DAMN GOOD ONE.

THE VINYL IS GOOD TO GOOD +. IT HAS QUITE A FEW SCUFF MARKS ON BOTH SIDES BUT PLAYS RIGHT THROUGH WITHOUT A PROBLEM ON BOTH SIDES EXCEPT FOR A CRACKLE NOW AND THEM BUT THE THE SOUND IS LOUD AND CLEAR.

       All vinyl listed on auction has been cleaned, played and visually inspected so that you may bid with confidence. Albums (LPs) and Extended Plays (EPs) are sent with the record outside of the cover and placed in an outer plastic sleeve (to prevent ring-wear) before safely packed.

       Where required, the sleeves have been cleaned with a secret formula to eradicate as much ring-wear and built up dirt as possible.

        Multiple items won will be combined to save on postage.

For grading purposes I play side one only of an EP or 45 (mainly the ‘A’ side) and a few tracks on side one of an LP.

I also grade records on a perceived appearance basis. I then combine them for an overall grading. I believe this to be the most effective way of grading records. Some records can look ordinary but they play well and vikky vika.

I use the English Record Collectors Magazine Guidelines for gradings as this appears to be the generally accepted term of reference with variances to + or minus. Below are grading scales.

GRADING DEFINITIONS FROM THE ENGLISH RECORD COLLECTOR MAGAZINE

MINT (M): The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just about playable, but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
