TITLE/ARTIST: Please continue to check out all current and future listings as everything from my personal collection will eventually come up for sale - 45's, Pic Sleeves, EP's and LP's from the '50's, '60's, and much, much more - all "oldies" and all in great condition! Here is one of those ultra rare and highly sought after LP's by the talented former DJ who died in the Iowa cornfields along with Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens - The Big Bopper - whose real name was J.P. Richardson. The record is on the original, 1st press, black with silver print Mercury Label from 1959 (the very year he died in that awful plane crash). It was his 1st and only LP release and is entitled "Chantitly Lace" after his huge hit song of the same title. The LP includes that hit single plus 11 other great RnR/Rockabilly songs, but please view all the pictures above for the song titles and much more. LABEL INFO: This original, black colored, Mercury Label (MG 20402) is close to perfect with no serious issues at all - I don't even see too many spindle lines around the center circle, which indicates to me that it had very light play. VINYL INFO: Likewise, the vinyl - in MONO - is also super shiny, clean, and nice with, again, nothing in much of any need to mention - just a few super light (and I do mean super light) surface/paper lines on either side. But this is really quite minor and not that serious. And otherwise, in my opinion, it actually looks about as good as the day it was 1st purchased back in '59. JACKET INFO: Finally, the attractive and colorful jacket is in very good overall shape (especially the all important front side), but not as perfect as the vinyl. There are small scuff marks and tears on the backside - as well as some discoloring in a few places. The seams are mostly just fine although there are small scuff marks in a couple of the corner seams and small crease lines in two of the front side corner areas. I've tried to show some of these issues in the pictures above. Otherwise though, it also appears to be just fine - the front side even seems to be protected by a tightly fitted, plastic covering which you sometimes see on these older records. INTERESTING FACTS: Yes, this highly collectible LP might not be perfect, but it is an original 1st pressing and it is in very nice overall condition - so please have at it and continue to check this site for more great conditioned "oldies" from my personal collection. As I have already mentioned, over time I am selling off my entire collection, and there are 100's more to get to yet -- of all genre's, years, sizes, and varieties.
