Side 1 :-
1. Be of Good Cheer. (A group of travellers made a jolly noisewith kettle-drum, cittern and hand organ)
2. Windsong. (Windsong was written some years agoafter a weekend with frineds on a houseboat at Walton on the Naze)
3. The Gremlin Song - DunsterTown. (This tale was told to us by anelderly gentleman who resdies in Dunster, Somerset. Many sightings have been reported of theseHobbit-like creatures after supping the local cider)
4. The Cobbler and the Raven. (A 13th Century English dance precedes thisfable. The scene is a lowly hovel in FarCotton, a small hamlet outside Northampton's castle wall. The story ends with two tunes (Doc Boyd's andMajor Mackie's jigs) which are used to accompany the Cogenhoe Onion Dance. The said dance is a fertility dance performedblindfolded around a pattern of onions. Our jester Ebeneezer Wilson performed this in the studio, hence thebells, and should you care to pace your nose close to the track a pungent odourwill be revealed.
Side 2:-
1. The Swan of England. (A ballad relating the mistaken identity of agoose for a swan)
2. The Woodgathering Man. (When day is done may the simple man tend hisfire and pity the poor traveller)
3. My Lady Cullen/Jenny Pluck Pears/UpTails All. (These tunes introduce adialogue concerning the mystical strength of the English Oak. This track is linked with the GreenwoodTree. The tale was recorded without abreak, music leading into verse and then song as in our live performance)
4. Jack Poppett. (The success of a legendarytrombone player from "up north")
