Charles Lloyd's music of the late '60s transcend its erstwhile, hippie era, Coltrane-lite cachet and come into its own as the expression of an expansive musical vision by a quartet of formidable players.
Straddling the threshold to the avant-garde, the music doesn't so much defy categorisation as dispense with the need for it.
Folk themes, Eastern influences, blues, modal hard bop, and impressionistic passages meld seamlessly into a unique, cohesive musical conception.
While the members of Lloyd's quartet are and remain enormous individual talents, this is an important but secondary consideration for Lloyd. The concert is a pure collective effort. The players solo, but the spotlight stays on the complete group.
Jarrett's fans will appreciate the selections that feature the pianist working solo or with just bassist and drummer, performing inside/outside music that's breathtaking

Clean, bright and unmarked labels with just a couple of light spindle traces.
There is some minor smudging to the black print on both sides but this is undoubtably a manufacturing issue
VINYL Visual: NEAR MINT
Both surfaces retain their original deep glossy sheen with just some very light brush marks - these have no audio consequence
VINYL Audio: MINT-
Sensational copy which plays beautifully throughout with no major audio issues of note
Played just once or twice on top quality equipment the sound performance is crystal clear, clean and fresh and already much looser and more avant-garde than their first LP (also on auction at the moment) which was recorded just one year earlier
SLEEVE: NEAR MINT
The front laminated sleeve is clean and unmarked with no real wear to speak of.
The edge are crisp and square and all text on the spine is clear and bold.
The front laminate has a deep, glossy sheen and the unlaminated back is still remarkably white
INNER SLEEVE: EXCELLENT++
The original poly-lined inner is clean and unmarked with no seam splits
