THE CRICKETS LP THE "CHIRPING" CRICKETS (Buddy Holly) (Brunswick Records BL 54038)
Original 1957 US pressing on the silver & black Brunswick label. Ground-breaking album opens with the unbeatable one-two punch of "Oh Boy" & "Not Fade Away." Produced in mono with great artfulness by Norman Petty in Clovis New Mexico. Front cover looks very nice with great color, with no rips, creases or stains. Play grading shows this copy to play better than it looks: I found this to be an acceptable level of surface noise with no skips until the last three songs on side B. Pressed on a thick slab of polystyrene wax with sturdy, high-quality cover.

COVER - VERY GOOD PLUS
Front cover has no tape, ink spills, smudges, color fading, puncture holes, streaking, writing, bubbles or stickers. No front ring wear, but a wee bit of speckling & corner banging. Back cover has some noticeable speckling & rubbing. Owners name written in faint ballpoint at top right back corner covers a half-inch by one-inch area. Spine print is fully readable. Label has owner's name written in very faint ballpoint on both sides, but no other heavy blemishes.
DISC - GOOD
Free chips, cracks or warping. Heavy level of scratches, scuffs & flecks. The great sound comes through clearly; the background noise is well-removed from the music. The thick platter holds its sound better than a cheaper modern pressing.
