How many psychedelic progressive underground groups do you know from Russia? Cholbon sings in Yakutian and their music is considered Floydian progressive mystic/shamanistic rock.
Original pressing from Russia. The record is in mint condition and the sleeve is in near mint condition.
The back of the album reads: ""CHOLBON" is a rock group from the village of Namtsy in Yukutia (North-east Siberia). "The Damned Stone"is its first album. Totally remote from the hip trends of both London and Leningrad, but close to its own roots the band has managed to create its own unique style. "Cholbon" has been called "The Pink Floyd of the Tundra" because of its weird blend of progressive rock sound, hypnotic rhtyhm of shamanistic rituals and funky pagan chants. All the songs, the whole philosophy of the band are deeply rooted in the culture and mythology of their native land. In fact, for themselves and their yakut followers rock - or whatever you call the stuff they play - is nor a pop/showbiz type of thing, but a truly spiritual music. In a way, the attitude of Yakut rock may be compared to the one of Bob Marley's reggae. Probably, the magic vibrations of "Cholbon's" rock ritual is best experienced at live concerts, but this studio recording of the band is a good introduction to the pure and and enigmatic world of Yukatian beat."
