Description

Recently a friend passed away - he was a gem of a person, and aside from the obvious sadness involved in all that, he was renowned for having one of the best collections of 60's Garage, Beat, Punk & Psychedelic 7"s, EPs and LPs (especially of Australian artists) - gathered together meticulously and carefully for longer than the 36 year period I'd known him. Some things he'd parted with over the past few years of little work and continuing overheads, and a small section was stolen by someone also well-known here (I suspect her karma will come) - but the bottom line is, he had amazingly good taste, and (like a previous recent collection I was selling here) the gems he had were mostly handpicked for excellence....[with some others to complete (often very obscure) label collections].

Anyway, this is one of that huge collection...all of which will appear here over the next few weeks.

This, quite simply, remains one of the TOP TEN garage comps of all. TRACKS: Side 1 1. Gonn - Blackout Of Gretely 2. Tides In - Trip With Me 3. The Debonaires - Never Mistaken 4. The Shames - Special Ones 5. The Mods - I Give You An Inch (And You Take A Mile) 6. M.G. & The Escorts - A Someday Fool 7. The Chob - We're Pretty Quick
Side 2 1. The Nomads - Thoughts Of A Madman 2. Things To Come - Sweetgina 3. Things To Come - Speak Of The Devil 4. The Mystic Five - Are You For Real Girl? 5. The Sleepers - I Want A Love 6. The Gents - If You Don't Come Back 7. Thee Wylde Main-iacs - Why (Ain't Love Fair)

Punk fans who have been recently whining about the decreasing quality of the zillions (or

maybe just scads) of garage compilations will have no complaint with this recent one. I mean,

when I put this record on my Radio Shack stereo, out came the spoken words, "The universe

is permeated with the odor of kerosene!" This followed by a ripping fuzz lick and a

WAAAGHHH!!! Scream..I knew I had gotten my $10 worth with this one! It was the "Gonn"

doing "The Blackout Of Gretely" (four and a half maniacal minutes). Just one of fourteen such

screaming punk-rockers guaranteed to blow the minds of anyone within earshot, and give

Duran Duran followers severe brain tumors as well! If snarl and fuzz are your trip get this record now!
