Give 'Em Enough Rope, for all of its many attributes, was essentially a holding pattern for the Clash, but the double-album London Calling is a remarkable leap forward, incorporating the punk aesthetic into rock & roll mythology and roots music.
Before, the Clash had experimented with reggae, but that was no preparation for the dizzying array of styles on London Calling. There's punk and reggae, but there's also rockabilly, ska, New Orleans R&B, pop, lounge jazz, and hard rock; and while the record isn't tied together by a specific theme, its eclecticism and anthemic punk function as a rallying call.
While many of the songs -- particularly "London Calling," "Spanish Bombs," and "The Guns of Brixton" -- are explicitly political, by acknowledging no boundaries the music itself is political and revolutionary.
But it is also invigorating, rocking harder and with more purpose than most albums, let alone double albums.
Over the course of the record, Joe Strummer and Mick Jones (and Paul Simonon, who wrote "The Guns of Brixton") explore their familiar themes of working-class rebellion and antiestablishment rants, but they also tie them in to old rock & roll traditions and myths, whether it's rockabilly greasers or "Stagger Lee," as well as mavericks like doomed actor Montgomery Clift.
The result is a stunning statement of purpose and one of the greatest rock & roll albums ever recorded.

Side One: London Calling / Brand New Cadillac / Jimmy Jazz / Hateful / Rudie Can't Fail
Side Two: Spanish Bombs / The Right Profile / Lost In The Supermarket / Clampdown / The Guns Of Brixton
Side Three: Wrong 'Em Boyo / Death Or Glory / Koka Kola / The Card Cheat
Side Four: Lover's Rock / Four Horsemen / I'm Not Down / Revolution Rock / (Train In Vain)

LABELS: NEAR MINT
Clean, white and unmarked labels - hard to spot any spindle traces at all
VINYL Visual: NEAR MINT
Both records retain their original deep glossy sheen and are practically unmarked - light and superficial brush marks only - these have no audio impact
VINYL Audio: MINT
Fantastic audio reproduction and one of the best sounding LPs in the Clash catalogue - strong, rich, warm and razor-sharp.
My play-check at loud volume revealed no audio issue at all - no scratches, no clicks or pops and no groove-wear or distortion (probably seen very, very little play) - flawless sound throughout
SLEEVE: EXCELLENT+
The 1st issue cover with PROMO stamp and original green sticker is good and solid and apart from a tiny touch of storage rubbing to the bottom edge and a small corner 'bump' is very clean, sharp and fresh with a straight and true spine - all spine text is clear and bold
INNER SLEEVES: NEAR MINT
Both are practically untouched and I don't think they have actually housed the records at all (which are in separate inners).
Both are clean, crisp and white with no foxing spots (common on these inners) and no seam splits

ALL RECORDS ARE PACKAGED WITH THE VINYL OUTSIDE OF THE SLEEVE TO PREVENT ANY ‘KNIFING’ DURING TRANSIT
A PROTECTIVE POLY SLEEVE, NEW INNER SLEEVES WITH NEW ANTI-STATIC LINERS, QUALITY BOX (NOT ENVELOPE) MAILER AND AMPLE STIFFENERS ARE ALWAYS USED TO ENSURE THAT YOUR RECORD ARRIVES SAFELY
