THE CLASH unreleased CX version of 1st LP / LOOK. EX condition! Extremely rare!. Condition is VG+/VG+. Shipped with USPS Media Mail.LAST AUCTION ENDED AT $355. Description below ''Here's a RARE one I've never heard of before. I bought a collection of records from the estate of the Clash's US A&R man, and included in it was this album. The cover is generic white and says : "Courtesy Test Pressing: Carrolton (the pressing plant) 9/13/82 CXBL-536060-1B CXAL-536060-1A" and "The Clash CX." This is an unreleased test pressing of the first Clash album with an obscure type of noise reduction called CX that was tried out in the US in the early 80's. I emailed my friend who is a mastering engineer about this, and he told me " CX was a mastering based noise reduction/ dynamic range expansion system. CBS marketed it for a few years. You needed to buy a decoder box and the discs were allegedly compatable on systems with decodiing. The records that used this technology had a CX logo on them (as does this one here, as well as a different catalog number with CX as a part of it.) Some records were issued in CX and regular versions (like "Thriller." As far as I know the Clash album wasn't issued in CX." I've done a ton of research and can find this on NO Clash discographies or anywhere else online or otherwise. This must have been something that was done as an experiment, but never released. As you can see from the label scan, there is a CX logo and a CX prefix under where it says "Side 1." There is also a CX prefix in the matrix number. Ultra rare
