This is a superb copy of this rare UK released box set on the orange Leader label from 1971 consisting of a box, 4 LPs and a 16 page 12"x12" illustrated booklet.

The LPs famously feature traditional folk songs and broad sheet ballads passed down in the Copper family who lived in Rottingdean, West Sussex. Each LP is devoted to songs relating to a season of the year henace there are four. The songs are performed by Bob Copper and his relatives and he provides a commentary relating how the songs were sung traditionally at celebratory events in the farming calender. It is a spectacular document of rural artistic culture.

This set is in superb near mint condition. There are no marks evident on any of the playing surfaces of any of the LPs so the grading for all four LPs is NEAR MINT. The labels are pretty much mint as well. The booklet has some small discolouration marks but no writing, tears, splits or creases. It grades EX+.

The all-important box is really super. There are no defects to speak of - no wear, no edge splits and the like which mar many LP box sets. I have no hesitation in grading the box EX++. Altogether this is about as good a copy of this rare artifact as you will ever find.

I am a collector and I only sell records from my personal collection. I aim to be totally objective about the records I sell. However please note that unless the play quality is specifically mentioned records are graded visually. I aim to describe the visual appearance of all items accurately using the standards below which are based on the UK Record Collector Price Guide. The highest grade I use now is NEAR MINT ('UNPLAYED' if still sealed in shrink wrap or occasionally full MINT but only if the provenance of the item suggests this to be correct). Records graded EX+ or EX++ would probably be called 'near mint' or 'mint' by most sellers. Please READ THE ITEM DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY and study photographs to avoid disappointment later. I will refund only on items which do not conform to the description and standards set out here.

GRADING SYSTEM

NEAR MINT: The record appears to be in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and other inserts are perfect. For MINT grading see above

EXCELLENT: The item has been played and may have some light surface marks but there is very little, if any, lessening in sound quality. Cover and contents have slight wear.

VERY GOOD: The record has been played quite alot but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Cover and contents show some wear.

GOOD:The record has been played many times and the sound quality has deteriorated noticeably. The cover and contents are often damaged.

I use EX++,EX+,VG++,VG+ as subsidiary gradings. Unless the record is extremely rare I do not sell items which are less than VG in condition.
